Agreed - we only saw it in fits and starts last season though, didn't we? With a full pre-season under his belt, I'm sure he'd have been more consistent next season. But if he has interest from higher up the football pyramid, then I can't blame him for wanting to pursue it - at 30 years-old, this is probably his last chance to make it as a Championship player. Once his pace fades, it's quite likely he'll be done.

Wanted to keep him and offered a deal commensurate with his value, as the club saw it, and also our status as a league 1 club. Happy with that.
BadBoy1762
Good we can't be held to ranson any more! We offered the best we could now time to move on. We're in league 1 now and must cut our cloth accordingly, time to get some young hungry lads in on league 1 wages
steelcityowlsfan
Not fussed either way on this one. Wilks will have more of an impact if we sign him. Edited June 18, 2022 by steelcityowlsfan

S72 Owl
He was excellent at right wing back until he got injured, then he got played up front and left wing back a lot. A player that we should be able to replace probably on a smaller wage too.
Quickly Kevin
Good. We gave him a chance after his career went down the pan and he started mouthing off on social media. He had some good games initially but my abiding memory is his lazy defending v Sunderland.

stocksyuto
He faded into the background towards the end of season and looks like we ain’t willing to break the bank on wages for him we move on

Possibly referring to his Pogba related post the other day as per the other thread. The ambiguity of that even more fuzzy given today's announcement that he's rejected the contract offer and is leaving.
mogbad
Hopefully DM will now refrain from using our club as a Halfway House for footballs lost souls. 3

It seemed pretty obvious that he was just taking the p*ss out of Pogba. Has he said anything else which we'd class as 'mouthing off '?
Bluesteel.
Hopefully whoever replaces him won’t have an issue passing to George Byers and vice versa…
DIPPS_S.W.F.C
He was a good replacement for Corbeanu when we needed 1,and had a few good games then lost his way after injury, played out of position. I think we can get better tho hopefully no big loss really. UTO

Mouthing off not my words to be fair, just speculating that the other poster was referring to that I think it was ambiguous and the hasty edit hardly lessened that. Could be interpreted in 2 ir 3 ways. Who really knows what he meant other than him? I don’t. Given his contract situation and today's announcement though, it's reasonable IMO to wonder
ZicoSterland2
Overated as his end product was often poor. Better maybe available at less cost.

alanharper
All those who were saying "NML is better anyway" when Corbeanu left are conspicuous by their absence. He really wasn't.
