Guest Posted September 27, 2020 Share Posted September 27, 2020 He may not be the striker we want him to be but as things stand he is the only one who is capable of playing the position. It's not just about scoring goals. Against Walsall we were useless until he came on. changed the shape and we created chances. Against Cardiff it worked well and he took his chance. Against Watford we were better when he was on the pitch than after he was subbed off. Monk's record of making effective substitutions aren't great and waiting until 5 minutes from time when losing the game to bring on a recognised striker didn't work. Just checked and he has dropped to fourth but he only needs 12 to be number one which he won’t get under monk. Hope you are un baffled. You give him a run based on how he performs now both on the pitch & in training. He might have scored a goal this season but for me he’s not shown anything to indicate that buying him has been anything other than a complete disaster. We picked up 4 points from Cardiff and Watford and one player is dropped too the bench and the other not even in the 18. Kachunga and Palmer both given starts after playing in a defeat to Fulham. Sorry mate, Rhodes might be one of the highest scorers in the history of the Championship but he’s only scored nine goals in the last four seasons despite getting numerous chances to prove himself (which have included a few extended runs in the side). He’s now a spent force. You advocate giving him an extended run in the team but if he’s not scoring then he’s little more than a passenger.
