we still haven’t finished our summer business and we’re all aware we’re in for a struggle.

Games against Everton and Leicester will not define our season - thankfully there’s enough average sides at the bottom. Hopefully with a Gallagher, Ivanovic and a forward that it’s enough to give us a chance

the club have confirmed that in this Covid world - without the income of supporters - that they will not be gambling our future on survival.

it will be another case of Norwich last season in using the monies of the PL to secure our future - especially with no external investment from a benefactor.

It’s bloody frustrating but that’s the world we’re in.

What's the reaction of the fans to that?  Is much call for taking a gamble and buying 'Stars'?

Gone down like a lead balloon mainly. Our budget is around £25million. I think fans feel we could have pushed that further without bankrupting the club. We don’t want this season to be a right off nor an embarrassment.

Weve had to spend £20m in bonuses, £10m to the Covid fund at a time where were covering a £10m loss in income. A budget of £25m and then covering the wages, it’s not hard to see where the money goes.

The signings of Diangana and Pereira will hopefully bring us the best part of £60 million in the next couple of seasons and we can reinvest that money back into the side.

The frustration amongst the fan base is why we got brought by a Chinese consortium who have no intentions of having anything to do with the club.

Bilic is fuming internally.

That first season always seems a massive hurdle do you spend to stay up but facing the possibility if you do go back down then you have a big wage bill for the Championship.

Or stick with the players who took you up with two or three additions hoping to do better than expected.

Didn't know you had been taken over.  Why would they buy a club but have nothing to with it, seems a little implausible?

We’ve opted for the second approach - and in the current climate I understand that. I just find it frustrating that we’re not giving Bilic the tools to do the job properly. He won’t hang around forever to have these relegation blots on his CV

the take over happened around 3 years ago but the owner has been absent ever since.

West Midlands football has seemingly been an interest for Chinese investment for some years - there was a financial report which linked the purchasing of clubs to position themselves for lucrative contracts with HS2.

Then the Chinese authorities changed their rules which meant individuals cannot invest their money outside of China.

So we’re stuck. The owner needs to stay up to sell - but he won’t be investing his own money to keep us there (be that via choice or the fact the rules won’t allow him too).

Wolves sign Nelson Semedo from Barca. Impressive signing imo.

Impressive that Barcelona will potentially get over £35M for him. I wouldn't pick him ahead of Liam Palmer!

What's happening with Frank Lampard's Chelsea? They can't handle the expectation? They look poor lately. Expected a lot more from them after making some impressive signings. Well done to the Baggies so far. Taking their chances and looking dangerous going forward and a good response to what happened against an impressive Everton. Good to see some surprise results if they can see it out.
