If wages are reduced, players could call it breach of contract and walk out. Desperation from the clubs but a lot are owned by multimillionaires. Would think it will be all new contracts. But unless it’s a Riga / world agreement players will just go abroad, well the decent ones
edinburghowl
Up north Hearts have already knocked 50% of players wages. Quite a few clubs up and down the country are going to struggle with cash flow with limited money coming into clubs. Some could get in big trouble

the third man
Cant football do what other industries are doing? lay players off because there is no work for them, the government can pay the clubs 80% of a max of £2500 per month per player, the clubs can then pass this on to the players Job done Edited March 21, 2020 by the third man

Contracts a contract unless player says year it up. Best clubs can hope for is players defer any amount above 6K. Will still have to pay it at some point. It may be the opportunity for football to bring in capped salaries by league, so top tier 50K pw, 2nd tier, 10k pw, 3rd 6k pw and 4th 3k pw. This measure hand in hand with limits on squad sizes and total squad wages per week would make football more sustainable and a fairer competition. In turn leading to lower ticket prices and more money going into facilities and the grass roots of the game. Another bonus would be less money going to the agents who do sweet fa other than line their own pockets.
