@owlstalk
Leading Championship clubs are considering a radical plan to cap player wages at £6,000 a week, as panic starts to take hold over the suspension of the football season. Telegraph Sport can reveal that a number of Championship clubs held a conference call on Friday to discuss the prospect of players taking temporary pay cuts until the resumption of the season. League One and League Two clubs are also considering deductions for playing staff, but the ambitious move from Championship clubs today only underlines the huge financial concerns generated by the coronavirus crisis. prowl
How can they do it? The contracts are between club and player , the EFL aren't party to those contracts. Players could challenge it and win. Maybe players with long term contracts might accept it. Why would players out of contract this summer? If wages are reduced, players could call it breach of contract and walk out. Desperation from the clubs but a lot are owned by multimillionaires.

As ridiculous as it sounds, some of them may struggle if they have mortgages etc. Footballers aren’t exactly renowned for intellect, and some might not have a rainy day fund... vulva
For out, £6000 between them, would be borderline reasonable.
