So far this season, actual position vs expected position based on performance so far: You got a link to this. I'd be interested to see who would be 3rd on XPG

How many points out of 32? Losing to Ipswich Charlton mk dons Preston Rotherham killed us more than any results against the top teams. Of which we got decent draws against. No props to you

NIOwl
And West Brom have only played sides that are below them.

If we look at it Preston didn’t do nothing to trouble us bar the Odubajo horror show.... then when we turned it on for ten mins we could have got a draw. QPR we’re not good we were just very poor. Yes how we get on against West Brom Leeds Forest etc is gonna be key to where we finish but realistically with the mess we’ve been in since pre season we’re doing well and things seem to be moving in the right direction. If we can manage 4 or even 6 points this week then no one can say we aren’t where we deserve to be because to go 5 unbeaten against anyone in this league, and without our best attacking player is something not many teams will achieve.
NYCOWL
I don’t think anyone is getting carried away. But from what I’ve seen of Monk I think he will have a plan for how to deal with the better teams.
DobbinTheDonkey
Basically we appear to be hardworking, organised and a threat at set pieces. You can go a long way with those three attributes. I've seen a few teams that were in a supposed false position who were going to fall away. Pigs, Huddersfield and Cardiff, look at how that turned out
Eastern
This is where I think things will look at the half way stage https://www.worldfootball.net/table_calculator/eng-championship/ I am forever an optimist Edited September 29, 2019 by Eastern
Spookone
No such thing as a false position, we are where we should be at this time of the season as a result of ours and everyone else's results.
Guest The Horse
4th to 15th place are separated by six points. And some of those are there because we beat them. Means nothing yet.

ny owl
Last season united's record against the top half was mixed at best, but they didn't lose to any team below 10th. So it's not a false position if you can beat weak teams consistently.

Lets wait to see what we do upto the the halfway stage. The record shows we did enough against the lower teams to get a PO spot. It also shows our lack of ability to beat the good teams cost us. So far this season we have not done so well against the stronger teams so that needs to improve

So far this season we have not done so well against the stronger teams so that needs to improve We were never going to finish in the top 2 that season so the records show we did enough against all the teams at either end of the table to warrant a play-off spot. The records then show that we did enough to see off the side that were easily the 3rd best team in the division that season and the semi-final but simply didn't turn up in the final. The 48 games that went before the final had little bearing on that 90 minutes.
