Why are we treated so differently compared to other clubs?

At many grounds you have a single row of stewards separating rival fans, yet we have to net off hundreds of seats at ends of 2 completely independent stands. You’d have to be a world champion javelin thrower to hit any opposing fan with anything and the last time I looked, no fans have 130 feet long arms to swing a punch.

I’m all for safety but we are being treated to a different standard and that cannot be right.

You are correct but why do you think SYP are lets say heavy handed with us, Is it because we wear blue and white? or perhaps because we play in stripes?

We all know why, its an institutional thing because of our past IMO and 1000's of others.

Our past ?  I’m not so sure it’s anything to do with Sheffield Wednesday fans particularly,  it’s down to the fact there historically corrupt organisation still have a deep underlying problem of accepting 1989 was totally down to them

Bewildering listening to people say we should move grounds or bulldoze Leppings Lane , for what !?   The issue in 1989 was SYPD and the issue in 2019 is STILL SYPD

but was it necessary to have a helicopter, drones, horses, surveillance vans, and riot vans, in addition to the extra police they brought in from other forces?

Of course not, but they had them as they knew this was in the pipeline and it would bolster their defence and today we have seen their victory.

It's the beginning of the end for full away ends.

Police don't want away fans. Simple

Well I for one can't see any possible safety issue with 10,000 more people than usual exiting onto a busy Penistone Road after the game...

The stand holds around 11k full

Dont really get that an extra 10 k will exit onto Penistone Rd unless you are saying that usually only 1k go that way

Its worth pointing out that SAG are having an effect across the country too.

Leeds were only allowed half the stand against Bristol City with the first 10 rows or so across the whole stand being cordoned off. We were only allowed 2000ish for Reading when we have had double that in the past.

Slowly but surely away fans/atmospheres etc are being silenced and killed off. Add in the mixture of the SYP for us and you probably have to be thankful that they actually allow any fixtures to go ahead at all.

Everybody in the South Stand who usually exit at the Lep end will have to go the other way as well. The bridge will be a bottleneck so more will need to go via Penistone Road. So potentially up to an additional 10k when the North and South are full.

If both exits are used equally then presumably the reality will be 5000ish more people exiting the North Penistone end than would usually do so.

Apparently that is safer.
