Absolutely no interest in anything SYPD , SAG or Sheffield Incompetent council have to say

3 organisations that share a common quality of been absolutely unfit for purpose

Good luck to the club working with those 3 ‘organisations’ to come to an agreement

Jesus wept. Can someone explain to me what issues arise on the forecourt? Apart from the clash with the pigs last year which was entirely the fault of SYP i've never known of any incidents.

It's another one of those faceless organisations which will continue to find fault in order to justify their existence.

Absolutely this..... SYP totally ffucked up against pigs & have been shown up yet again!

Anyone with a modicum of sense could see that keeping them in 10 mins would solve any problems.

They are trying to shift responsibilities yet again!

SAG need to recommend that any other police authority other  than SYP must police matches in Sheffield!

Its worth pointing out that SAG are having an effect across the country too.

Leeds were only allowed half the stand against Bristol City with the first 10 rows or so across the whole stand being cordoned off. We were only allowed 2000ish for Reading when we have had double that in the past.

Slowly but surely away fans/atmospheres etc are being silenced and killed off. Add in the mixture of the SYP for us and you probably have to be thankful that they actually allow any fixtures to go ahead at all.

I remember getting off a train from Doncaster at Sheffield station. At the same time a train pulled into the station carrying Everton supporters. I was slap bang in middle of them and so tried to get to perimeter and get out the police herded me back in and onto football special up to ground. I got off bus and kept trying to get out of being herded towards away end. At about 6th attempt I finally got one copper to understand I was a Wednesday fan showed him my season ticket and let out of bunch. I then got a lecture about infiltrating away supporters. I explained situation and said if you try and get out and keep being shoved back in its not easy without bringing every ones attention upon you which for some reason I was not keen on doing. The police had cloth ears that day and it seems on a few other occasions aswell.

Agree with this. It would be interesting to see how many football related arrests were made or disturbances recorded in that area outside of the Sheffield derby last season as I have walked that way a few times and can't recall anything major or indeed anything like that being reported anywhere.

This "looking for problems that don't exist" issue reminds me of true story from quite a few years ago when I went on my own to watch a Scottish football match.

Being a neutral (and feeling that way inclined as I had had a crap day at work and sought some entertainment for the evening) I asked at the turnstile whether it was appropriate for me to stand with the home supporters or the away supporters. I did not want to cause trouble, of course. Little did I know...

The attendants were operating back to back turnstiles but they spoke to each other. They decided that they didn't know so they asked a supervisor. He didn't know either. Not wanting to cause trouble, I then noticed that a "hi-viz" security man saw an opportunity for peace to break out and he joined the conversation.

"Which team do you support, pal?" he asked "Sheffield Wednesday" I said, not wanting to cause trouble, "but I should like to watch some Scottish football tonight as I am working on a job near here and I don't want to cause any trouble"

Turns out Mr Hi-Viz didn't know either.

A policeman then spotted our growing band and, suspecting that unfettered violence might break out any minute, he checked his truncheon, pepper spray or whatever, and strode briskly over to join the conversation.

"I don't want to cause trouble" I kept re-iterating despite the bobby being totally flummoxed.

Finally, the duty sergent pitched up to offer his contribution... "Is there any trouble?" he asked "No, I don't want to cause trouble" I said.

There were seven of us standing around, all puzzled and in deep discussion as to where I should stand, in order that I did not cause any trouble.

The footnote to the story is that, after several long minutes of deep conversation, I ended up with the home fans who, once in the ground, were quite happy shouting insults, offering threatening behaviour, fighting amongst themselves and throwing tins of beer around that they had openly brought into the stadium.

As it happens, I didn't cause any trouble when in the ground nor after the match either.

100% true story.

SYP are often involved when we play Leeds away also. About 3 years ago, myself and my brother were part of a ridiculous police escort that took us an hour to get to the station. We were dragged into it for no apparent reason, other than being amongst other Wednesday fans. They tried to shunt everybody onto a direct train to Sheffield, obviously presuming that everyone who was there was heading back that way. Had to plead with officers to let us out so we could get the train back to Castleford, "No, you'll go with everyone else". We live local ffs! Simple-minded twits.

I thought that we appointed someone last year with the task of sitting down with the Advisory Group and going through the stadium, stand by stand, looking at ways that we could get back up to full capacity. Not that we sell out often, but there are games every season which create a larger demand for tickets and its a shame that we seem to be losing almost a quarter of the stadium capacity.

There are never any problems exiting onto bramall lane ever.

There were plenty of problems at the Lane last season. First trying to get into the ground, we were restricted to one pair of turnstiles, which caused chaos and left us vulnerable to the porkies throwing missiles at us. Leaving the ground a line of cops directed us towards the city, which was not where I wanted to go having come by train.

Bramhall Lane was the worst ground I visited over the past two seasons.

How is people exiting the North Stand via the Kop and walking up Veres Road to Leppings Lane any safer than people exiting the North Stand via Leppings Lane?

I’d have thought less exit points would have been less safe, and ultimately those who need to be towards the Leppings Lane will end up there with away supporters anyway.

Organisations justifying their fees...

Interesting

You can't polish a turd, time for a relocation to a purpose built stadium (Please Mr Chansiri) If and when we reach the PL it will be mayhem when the away team are only given a limited number of tickets and there is more empty seats than not,

When stuff like this occurs, it makes me wonder if we would be better off moving to a new ground? Don’t get me wrong, I love Hillsborough and don’t particularly want to move, but would it be better? A custom built stadium that’s better suited to the match day experience etc etc.

The question that jumps to me now, is does it make it harder with the recent sale of the ground?

Both Derby games suffered from poor policing last season.

But the games should have been played on Sunday with a lunch time kick off. Sky should have been told no.

Second a small section of fans from both clubs should hang their heads in shame over their behaviour.
