Whelan - Class act?

Notwithstanding that he had a decent game (apart form taking down Hutch and getting a yellow card), did anybody else notice Whelan didn't celebrate any of the Villa goals and instead just took up position alone on the centre circle awaiting the re-start?

And he also followed the last few Wednesday players and applauded the Kop at the end.

Views? Comments?

He should have been brought HERE when his Stoke contact was up.

Friggin Portugese  coaches.

Forgive me for pointing out the bleeding obvious...we need a striker, not a 36yr-old midfielder.

Haha :) They're not mutually exclusive.

Whelan's a great pro, loves us and would be a good role model for younger players. Could end up as a coach next season.

It's bad enough that some pine for Gary Hooper and still live in hope of Lee & Forestieri returning to form. Fookme, some poor buggers can't even get over Whelan & Brunt.

It's not like he's well past it or hasn't performed. Over 70 appearances for a top 6 Championship club over the last 2 seasons.

@edinburghowl should we sign him?

He has been absolutely poo at Hearts mate, so no. Mediocre performances, completely unprofessional, showed no leadership on the pitch, he refused to train every day with the squad because he had a prior arranged agreement with Levein. Stendel wants all players training at every session, Stendel told him he can do that and train with the squad like everyone else does, or he can Foxtrot Oscar. So Stendel and the club told him to take a hike.

Whelan also had an agreement in his contract where he didn’t have to perform any media interviews as per his request. And the first thing he has done after the club told have told him to leave is go crying to the media.

lol And he had the cheek to call Hearts “Amateurish” after all the above. Absolute joker. A shadow of the player we watched and has come across a right bellend too. I’m delighted he has gone.

But apart from that, it has gone well, right?

Ha! Whelan obviously thought he could stroll it in the SPFL, he has failed miserably, and has come across a right billy big-testicles. Should be avoided at all costs.

Don't they call that: "doing a Joey Barton"?

Loves us? lol he’s simply an ex player who probably hasn’t spared a thought to us since he left

he got 5 MOTM performances

Hearts must be as bad as the table says

5 MOTM performances (and that’s club MOTM’s not official MOTM’s BTW) in a team that is crap and bottom of the league is not exactly setting the bar very high. The best performer of a team of terrible players.

Whelan like many has been rubbish and looked completely uninterested for a while.
