it hasnt been this year tho has it?

I don't understand are we not pay the salaries of Fessi, Winnall, Joao, Rhodes, Hooper, Nuihu and Fletcher so about £170k a week or £9m a season in salaries for a team that has managed just 41 goals or £220,000 a goal.

We don't need players to be sat on their behind on £30k a week we need two players for every position so 4 max if we get an injury the a player from the development squad gets a chance or other cover. By getting Rhodes, Fletcher, Winnall off the wage bill we could reduce our losses by £5m a season and still have more than enough fire power with Fessi, Hooper, Joao, Nuihu, + development strikers.

So many in this squad should be shown the door before Nuhiu.

If we need players off the wage bill, those in charge should look at what the following are likely to offer the team in the coming season(s)

Loovens, Abdi, Wallace, Boyd, Pudil on the grounds of both age and likely contribution in the future.

Then Fletcher, Winnall and Rhodes and Fox on the basis of this season's form

Those nine players would barely be missed, would reduce the wage bill drastically, as well as in the case of Rhodes and Winnall, bringing in some much needed transfer fees.

Nuhiu has more to offer the club than that little lot.

Understand what you are saying but Nuihu and Wallace are out of contract in a few months, we cannot find anyone stupid enough currently to offer Fletcher, Adbi silly £30,000 - £40,000 a week contracts unless you know anymore chairman who don't make mistakes anywhere.

Look Nuihu has had a good game at Leeds, lets see what he does from now to the end of the season and if he can repeat that level of performance week in week out. If he can then offer him a renewal but he might not want to, maybe he does not want to be a bit part player and wants to go elsewhere for regular first team football - who knows.

Been playing well before the Leeds game tbf but agree with what you're saying otherwise.

That would be inadequate in League Two, never mind what we're hoping to achieve. If this season hasn't shown you that then you are beyond hope. Much of the time teams will have 2 on the field and 2 on the bench. Get a single injury and you're already lacking options. Four of our top five strikers at the start of the season (Forestieri, Hooper, Fletcher and Winnall) haven't kicked a ball for us between them in 2018. Our sixth and seventh options (Joao and Nuhiu) have scored 11 of our last 16 goals between them, and thank God they have.

You and your infamous "selective statistics" TM again? How many league games did Nuhiu start between 8th May 2016 and 22nd December 2017 (that's 19 of the 24 months period you keep referencing)?

TWO !

By the time he returned to the starting lineup due mainly to injuries, the slump was well underway. Indeed, his first league start in just one week short of a full calendar year was the day before Carvalhal scarpered to Swansea having completed his time here with a pathetic 4 points from his last 7 games.

Since winning at Villa Park in the first week of November, we've won 1 of the 9 league games Nuhiu has started and 2 of the 13 he hasn't. Yes... he's obviously the problem isn't he?

There you go again trying to make his stats look better than they are .

Have you compared him to Bergkamp in this thread yet?

:duntmatter:

This is a great thread - lose against Preston with Dave playing the full 90 and the usual nonsense will appear.

Let see where we are at the end of the season...We are carrying too many strikers so some need to go.

Find someone better than Dave who can do his job? Fine, if not he deserves an extension as he is competent at this level.

..bit if we have aspirations of playing in the Prem we will need better.

Over the last few months your arguments have become increasingly desperate and embarrassing.

Why is that?

Is it because we have finally won a league game he's started?

Some might say it's a tad disingenuous to go on about Nuhiu not winning a league game he's started in two years when Carvalhal's last game in charge was only his third start in 19 months and he'd come back into a team that was already in freefall. But I guess it will be a while before we see the minutes per goal comparisons between him and Rhodes again?

Again selective wording to try and make his record look better.

Players like Nuihu are always going to be devisive with the fan base. I have a ST on the North and theres fellas who sit around me moaning that he never wins headers right after winning a flick on. Same people bitching that hes useless while hes just held of 2 players and turned them to lay the ball off to another player.

Some fans will only really see what they want to see in a player. Regardless of what the player is actually like or how good parts of the players game is.

For me, Nuihu aint a target man and he shouldnt have to come deep for the ball. The having to come deep for the ball is especially crippling to Nuihus game due to his lack of pace. He plays his best football on the edge of the opposition box and when hes not being asked to run about or come deep. If we can get the midfield to play higher up the pitch and get bannan supplying little through balls, i recon wed get even more out of Nuihu. Same also for the rest of our strikers. Aint none of our strikers gonna score 20 goals if we keep asking them to drop deep and get the ball.

I said it earlier in the thread. Hes somethin different and hes helped us get 50 goals in about 200 games hes played. Cheap, different option and never hides..... worth a contract for me.

Nuhiu is one piece from a hugely difficult puzzle for Jos up front.

Is Nuhiu good enough?

Is Joao’s recent form going to be the norm, or will we see more of the Joao from 2016 and 17?

Is FF up to it? He has started just 28 matches of our last 86.

Will Jos be able to use FF better than Carlos did as a striker? Is striker his best role?

Is Hooper up to it? 39 starts from 86.

Is Fletcher up to it? 35 starts from 86.

Will Rhodes’ mysterious lack of form be replaced by his old self?

Forget Matias. Rotten luck or too fragile....no idea but a complete waste of a salary.

Huge number of things to resolve for Jos. If he gets more Right than wrong we can have a very good front-line.

Think he's a shoe in for another contract, seeing the state we are in financially.

I know posters on either side of the argument go to extremes to get their point across, but look at it.

Fletcher...When is he back, his he coming back, how long will he be back for?

same with Hooper

Rhodes..."Wait til he starts firing"..will he won't he?..we don't know

Mathias....?

Apart from Joao and Nuhiu, we have no bugger that turns up regularly enough, or Rhodes who turns up, but produces little.

We really have no choice but to keep him
