Thorniley LCB.

Pudil LCB. LB.

Van Aken LCB.

Fox LCB. LB. LWB.

Reach LWB.

Boyd LWB.

Lees RCB.

Hunt RB. RWB.

Pamler RB. RWB.

Just looking at our options, its a shame Joost Van Aken got injured. Instead of easing himself back into light work outs, he could have been in the gym, getting stronger and sharper.

I reckon come August, we'll have options not to rely on him. I can't see him being rushed.

When you see the names written down like that, we probably need 4 recruits in this department alone

We need Venancio in with Pudil, Lees, Thorniley, Van Aken and if need one from the youth teams should have adequate cover with hutch also being able to play there. If Hutch is not going to be returning them maybe look at a young premiership loan but on reasonable wages. This is if we are playing 3 at the back if only a 2 then no need for another body.

Need a new left back, Garbutt would be reasonably priced and looking to prove he is good enough, if we have more money to spend or fund made available then maybe look at Henry (Brentford), Taylor (Burnley) or Cunningham (Preston)

Need a consistent and fit right back Gunter (Reading), Jones (Sunderland), Christie (Fulham) - all reasonable priced and the latter two may be surplus for differing reason.

Obviously if any are sold then replace

Offload Hunt (too injury prone), Palmer (not good enough), Fox (not good enough)  - Young Baker can act as Back up at Right back when needed.

Nowhere near strong enough to challenge for promotion imo.

You look at the likes of Wolves (Bolly, Bennett, Coady), Cardiff (Morrison, Bamba, Manga), Fulham (Ream, Kalas), Villa (Terry, Chester, Samba) etc and it's pretty clear we're some way off defensively. Huge gulf in quality.

A proper replacement/upgrade for Loovens should be number 1 priority this summer. A big experienced lump, who can organise and lead from the back.

Our right backs aren't good enough. They can both get forward, but neither can cross a ball or shoot consistently well. Couple this with only average defensive abilities & there's a problem. Same could be said for left back too. When you watch other top teams, their overlapping players are an extra supply line. Ours aren't.

What do you think of Aristote Nsiala saw him for Shrewsbury against Rotherham looked a decent player, good age in 26, 6ft 4", seem to have two good feet and a bit of pace about him and hopefully would not cost the world. I know he is league 1 but we need to widen our search to find players we can improve but get in at the right price.

We should be looking to strengthen in all areas. Wheeling and dealing are the operative words for this summer. I’m hoping our manager / head coach has more luck than previous managers / head coaches in getting the players he actually wants.

Never seen him play mate. Would like to see someone tried and tested personally, but of course all options should be on the table.

Video of this lad here.

Looks just the type of defender we need.

Whether he's good enough to play regularly in the championship is another thing.

Jesus, Fox and certainly Boyd cannot play LWB next season if were serious about challenging for anything
