Are you Super Cereal? post-445-0-86838400-1332238664_thumb.png It's seems busy enough to me ...

32 deals between 24 clubs doesn't sound too busy to me,  bearing in mind all released players at the end of last season, but each to their own.

So are we though

In what way shape or form are we in a mess ??

We've got a team that finished 15th last season with the addition of 12/13 first team players back who missed the entire season.

I'd be happy with our squad if the season started tomorrow.

I’m also happy with our outgoings so far although I’d welcome one or two.....

In reducing our numbers (which on balance I agree with) the club must be certain that the injuries sustained last year were in the most part avoidable due to poor conditioning and have absolute faith in the medical team. Let’s hope they are right in both counts.

Would be great that. Leeds and qpr want him too I think

Would guess that depends on getting the fletcher deal done. Come on Kat. You know what you have to do!

Granted our recruitment has been bizarre and largely aimed at attacking players, but I can't see us bringing in Hugill, wouldn't make sense after stripping Rhodes out of the overhead

I think Honeyman might come in and join the midfield mess though if a relatively cheap deal can be agreed

True, I've just read an article from Yorkshire Post from 4th May, with direct quotes from Luhukay.

Pretty much says, players coming in will be 18-23 year old. It does sound abit concerning, regarding how tight money will actually be.

Most of the teams buying are those that have sold a few at big profits such as Norwich and Bristol City, the teams that came down are also buying in with the parachute payments they get and the fact FFP does not apply to them yet :picnic:

We need to get a few in for our weak areas, because going into the first week of the season with options at right back being Palmer and a youth team kid, left back of Fox and Reach and right midfield of Boyd and Joao. for such a big squad of players to have so few options in key areas is worrying and shows the problem with the squad that 2 years of mismanagement and poor recruitment by the powers that be have put us in.

Maybe a few decent quality loans will be coming this week but I doubt it..

fuckerada, I'd pay fox's contract off out of my own money

I'm not too concerned to be fair

From what I have seen so far, how he brought the likes of Joao, Nuhiu, Reach, Venancio, Wildsmith, Dawson, and Thorniley up a notch was quite impressive, also Pelupessy once he had a decent midfield partner to complement

Looks like he has the coaching ability to develop players, hopefully we'll get some relative success with both the lads from our u23s/academy and the pool of players left behind in the championship after the big spending teams have signed up the proven talent

Me neither, not got a problem with this, today's emerging talent could be tomorrows £10m+ player and we have a management team in Jos and his assistant who have a track record of youth development,

I also think that our squad as it stands supports this approach, we have a lot of quality in the squad and finding the right blend between youth and experience could work well.

Agreed

It's a fine balance

Hopefully we can produce players to the level where premiership clubs will pay 10 -15m, then we can start to optimise the odd player sale, build a strong squad sustainably and over turn the current financial deficit created by last seasons gamble

Something we've been pretty pish at over recent years

I am resigned to going with what we have Any good additions will be a welcome surprise

Having said that though, if we play with wing backs, and I think we will, I’m not sure we really have the personnel  Without adding a centre back, and a left wing back, we look a little makeshift

Agree with this. Our back 5 currently is nowhere near good enough for a team with ambitions of promotion. People seem optimistic but we have mid table written all over us in my opinion.

I agree, less concerned about CB as seems Jos likes our academy players as back up but I do think wing backs are a real problem. It is a specialist position and crucial to making that system work and think you are spot on, makeshift at best.

With our budget restrictions mid table wouldn’t be a disaster. It’s going to take another two windows before we start to get the squad in shape again.

Given that our youngsters have been successful over the last few years, then it seems we have some very talented kids coming through. Jo’s has a proven record of developing such talent so let’s trust him to improve the players we have and turn these kids into what we hope they will be. I am very excited about what’s happening at the moment. Would rather see a team full of fit hungry home grown youngsters than Jordan Rhodes strolling about with his fupping thumb up in the air.
