Did Brooks ever go out on loan or was he shown some faith by the coaches at his own club?

You mean when at Man City?

I'm not sure.

I am 100%  though that Sheff Utd were willing to let him go to Chesterfield as part of the deal to get Ched back until Wilder prevented it.

Why should he have any loyalty to the club ? Hjs father gave his all to the club, and was then made to go to Southampton.

Hirst was finished as a player at that stage though, daylight robbery getting $2million for him, and I'm sure Hirst was glad of a decent contract and payday at that stage of career: chronically injured.

He also retweeted a video of Tim Sherwood the other day having a (very good) rant about young players not being given chances for their clubs.

This isn't a new thing but it is very obvious.

He was due on loan at chesterfield but they did a u-turn on it.

Seriously what the hell are you on about??

Isnt it obvious?

Hirst likes a picture.....maybe he doesnt know Hunt got skinned by the blade? Or....Maybe he knows the blade personally as they are about the same age. Same city?

Not rocket science was it.

Wilder was going to send him to Chesterfield but after a really good pre season he showed faith in him.

Good management .

He does handle squad selection.

The second youth player liking something to do with David Brooks. Shows how disconnected the youth set up is with the first team set up. C.C. won’t play youth and they know it. You need to give your young players a chance to push the senior players.

Brooks is a completely different kind of player to Hirst, almost two years older and is playing for a club who have spent a fraction of what we've spent on strikers across their whole squad. We have enough senior players to push the other senior players.

Also, our current first choice strikers are scoring goals.

It's quite bizarre that the George Hirst issue has raised its head again today just because Utd's best prospect tore our defence a new one. Just because David Brooks is good enough, doesn't mean George Hirst is. It's just a knee jerk, throw your toys out of the pram reaction to a shocking defensive display.

It had been agreed that Brooks would go on loan to Chesterfield this season but his performances for England made United go back on the deal whilst they had a look at him over the pre-season.

Still he was brought on as Wednesday fan. Done everything that was asked of him and more, brushed aside by CC, refused to be taken on pre season tour or given squad number.

When it came time to talk about his new contract, he was blackmailed that he will loose year of development if he doesn't sign what we offered...

Could say the same about my situation at work, but if I started promoting rivals on social media, at the expense of my employer, then someone would have a word

I’m not suggesting we play George Hirst or throwing my toys out of the pram.

No one should make excuses for that.

Hes a Sheffield Wednesday player, the son of a Sheffield Wednesday legend.

i don’t care if he’s David Brookes best mate - it’s disrespectful to people paying best part of £50 to walk out of ground having watched us get outplayed by our rivals.

he - and I think thorniley has done same - need a bolking.

If the kid has beef with the club, fine. But be big enough deal with it internally. To choose this moment spits in the face of all the fans. What have we done to him to deserve that (apart from campaigning to get him in the side)?

What a nöbhead

Although this is a poor decision from him, and footballers would probably be best advised to avoid social media altogether. Let alone like/retweet/favourite etc. A post from a bitter rival embarrassing your own team! He has seemingly been frozen out of the youth team, and he's not selected for the first team.. being held at ransom until he signs a long contract (or wait a few months and get a much better contract).

Why the hell would he have any loyalty to swfc? Would you? Or if it was your son?

Just another very badly handled situation under the great Mr C.

What are you talking about? He was offered a contract by us with a loan to follow, he turned the contract down so will now see out his time with the club until he can walk away on a free.
