Mirror online:  Sheffield Wednesday poised to meet Newcastle's £5.5m asking price for Grant Hanley.

Would say that a pretty good price imho.

How much did Newcastle pay Blackburn for him? Mind you his wages must be eye watering.

Aston Villa are interested in signing Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur this summer, according to reports.

McArthur isn’t first choice at Selhurst Park and his place in the squad isn’t guaranteed now that Frank de Boer has taken over from Sam Allardyce.

The 29-year-old, who is a Scottish international, was snapped up from Wigan in 2014 and has gone on to make just shy of 100 appearances in the past three years.

Like Mile Jedinak, of course at Villa now, McArthur could find game time increasingly hard to come by if de Boer recruits his own personnel in that position.

McArthur's Scottish - Does Carlos know that he's available?? :manager:

Middlesbrough are interested in signing Reading's Welsh international full-back Chris Gunter. (Source: Yorkshire Post)

He's a player I've mentioned a few times on here over the summer. He would be the ideal full back/wing back for how we play.

He's a hard working, pacy full back that can defend and likes to get forward and he put's a good cross in.

Is he the scottish cousin of that fat tail who had 15 minutes of fame after he won that talentless contest.

Fulham have signed defender Marcelo Djalo from Spanish second division side Club Deportivo Lugo on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old former Real Madrid youth player joined Juventus in 2014 but was loaned out three times and never made a first-team appearance.

He moved to Lugo last season and his Fulham deal includes a 12-month option.

Done deal..........

Aston Villa have completed a huge transfer coup as John Terry becomes Steve Bruce's first signing of the summer, owner Tony Xia has confirmed.

Villa fought off competition from several Premier League clubs, including Bournemouth and West Brom, while Terry also had lucrative offers on the table from abroad.

Terry to Villa is such a strange transfer and will either be really good or really bad for the team, he must be on a hefty wage for this division. Fair play to him though, he wants to play football at a competitive level and not just chase the millions either in America or Asia.

£5 million for 31 year old McGeady also seems a bit excessive, I bet Everton can't believe their luck.

Walters could do for Villa what Murray did for Brighton last season , would love him here but we are a little top heavy in that dept .

Come home Glen !

Certainly would be top heavy with him on board

Are Sunderland really paying 5 million for McGeady!?! I know he did pretty well for PNE but 5 million sounds very expensive.

If so, what price Tom Ince?

6 years younger, goals and assists galore.

Attacker George Boyd has reportedly moved to the brink of signing a deal with Sheffield Wednesday.

The 31-year-old has spent the last three seasons at a first-team regular at Turf Moor, but he opted against signing an extension to his deal with the Clarets.

Aston Villa were said to be interested in his signature but according to Sky Sports News, he is closing in on a transfer to Hillsborough.

It has been claimed that Boyd will undergo a medical with the Yorkshire giants later on Monday after of sealing a move to the Championship outfit.

Boyd made 33 starts in the Premier League during the most recent campaign as Burnley successfully retained their status in the top flight.
