Jordan Rhodes

I would wager a bet that he'd jump at the chance to join Wednesday if it were possible to match his personal terms and transfer fee.

The limiting factor in all of this though is him being so fecking expensive!

A team we could have had in the early 90's from failed bids to us turning them down:

Woods

Nilsson

Pearson

Stam

Worthington

Beckham***

Roy Keane *

Shezza

Waddle

Shevchenko**

Cantona

*Keane wrote to club for a trial but we rejected him as we had just signed Chris Bart-Williams.

** Shevchenko actually came on trial but was deemed not good enough and too small

*** We bid for Beckham and Man utd wanted 3 million. Dave Richards refused to pay 3 million for a reserve team player.

Wasn't jaap stamp once on trial with us?

No. If you read his autobiography, he was a very young midfield player in Holland, whose hero was Trevor Francis. He simply asked if he could train with us for a week or two, just so he could work with Francis for a few days.

Remember  him playing  a blinder at Hillsbro in a pre season friendly when he played for Brondby, before Manure had even heard of him.

Said to my mate at the game we should sign this kid.

Sadly we didnt

Big Ron, first time around, organised this game on 4th round FA cup day (we naturally went out the previous round) with the express intention of trialling him.

We won 5-0 and the rest is .........

I was about to mention the same about the Schmeichel & THAT game.... although I thought the result was 3-0 or 3-1.

What a team that would have been..some interesting and probably not well known facts there

Thats not correct about beckham. they made an offer and it was refused - it wasn't Dave Richards preventing the purchase.

Don't recall the Keane and a shevchenko ones either but would stand corrected on those.

It's in Keanes autobiography. He sent letters to most clubs requesting a trial, we responded that we had purchased bartman and wasn't looking for midfielders.

Didn't we decline Shevchenko in favor of Booth?
