Arthur Bach
You wouldnt be able to just remove them, you would have to literally re-build the entire 'stand'. Except its not even a stand, its seats on a mound of earth with a roof over it.

Arthur Bach
cantilever? The whole site would need clearing and deep foundations sunk. Man City started building their extention to the ground first as the architecture already existed to support it. The Kop is my favourite icon of the club but is also about 50 years out of date. steelowl
preferred it without a roof - brilliant view getting pneumonia was a right of passage to a life of misery Edited March 17, 2016 by steelowl

Weshallovercome
You beat me to it steely........we should just take the roof off, be like t'olden days. You would have to take the seats out as well or your bum would get wet........sounds good to me.
vulva
We should play a high stakes game of Kerplunk during half time against Charlton. Those that have paid for a 3 year ticket can sit at the opposite side to the first pillar removal. We need to make season ticket purchases aspirational. Fast Forward
If you removed the 'poles' the roof would fall down.

Except its not even a stand, its seats on a mound of earth with a roof over it. We wouldn't need to rebuild the entire stand. A new roof supported by a truss like the South Stand has would do the trick.
Arthur Bach
agree needs to be properly developed knock the lot down remove the pile of earth probably been there since 1899 and start again I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that its going to be a new stadium for us. But if they chose to re-develop how amazing could Penistone Road look with a new stand and neon blue lit facia? Encompassing turnstiles, refreshments and socialising space.
