The clue is in your reply the FA will make money out of this delay. In truth I don't know why its such a big issue for some people. What does it matter if Spurs play a few more games at Wembley?

Their ground is  a massive™ building project that's running behind schedule, it won't be the first and it won't be last.

Yet another bloated edifice of soulless corporate dryrot.

Etihad, Emirates, this hangar, all horrific, all aesthetically bankrupt.  Community?  Only if you pay up.

When Hillsborough was redeveloped in the 60's I bet there were people who criticised the massive 'space age' North and west stands.

What do you think Spurs should have done differently?

I’d rather Wednesday had a first class stadium like Spurs than a dilapidated Hillsborough.

Completely different, in terms of both scope and purpose.

SWFC wasn't looking to price out most of the fans with that expansion, nor was the club chasing filthy lucre from the NFL.

Spurs new ground is unbelievable. Definitely the best new built ground I’ve seen.

In the future, I’m all for redeveloping Hillsborough as I prefer grounds with character and I dislike many new grounds such as Coventry. However, that Spurs ground is something else.

So if you think the Spurs ground is that bad what would you have done differently

Reminds me of the away corner at the old den.

The third and fourth matches I went to were at the Old Den. Probably explains my anxiety issues.

Part of me thinks the new Spurs ground looks amazing, then part of me thinks it will just be another stadium full of corporates and tourists.

I like that they've gone with a "Top" style single tier stand behind the goal, but it looks too spacious and I can't imagine it's going to generate a particularly good atmosphere as the roof is about half a mile above it!

Just not bothered...

Some of the mid-90's to early 2000's grounds give the soulless impression - built in out-of-town areas with no connection to the club, many look similar and could be anyone's ground if you change the colour of the seats - Middlesbrough, Coventry, Derby, Bolton etc.

The bigger teams seem to do things a bit differently. Man City was used for the commonwealth games but then developed into a proper football stadium as planned and the club have regenerated a whole area of the city to make a complex that has benefits across many levels and is admired within football. Spurs have chosen to build adjacent to their current ground which helps to maintain a traditional sense of their home.

Agreed

Spurs have redeveloped their existing and spiritual home - they remain rooted in the community from which they traditionally draw their support

Arsenal moved a couple of streets away so their iconic "Arsenal" tube stop is still the nearest destination for those visiting the stadium - and just as near as ever. Spurs fans of a certain vintage will still refer to them as "that small South London club" - however they have been in their part of North London long enough for it to be regarded as "their manor"

The Emirates is a beautiful stadium - as so looks the new Spurs stadium

Spurs will still claim the high ground in as much as they are on the same site and will still be White Hart Lane - even if the naming rights are sold - ala Newcastle and the Sports Direct Stadium...has anybody in football ever really considered the Geordies played their home matches anywhere other than St James Park?

I hate this "soulless bowl" crap - it has served many clubs very well to move out of utter shyteholes into brand new purpose built stadiums that serve their needs a whole lot better

Different clubs have different dynamics - are Swansea better off being out of The Vetch? I really liked that quirky old ground btw - but it was ridiculous and mostly condemned by the time they relocated - but it's completely obvious they did the right thing

I love Hillsborough - literally adore the place and i'm probably blind to all its shortcomings other than the embarrassing West Stand - i would rather us redevelop opur existing site and still call our ground Hillsborough - the ghosts of our bygone days would still roam. The history echoing through the fabric of the place - but for some it would just be a soulless bowl i guess

Drove past the Derby ground the other day, which has businesses open around the ground (part of the external part of the stadium); such as coffee shops, Greggs, etc.

So they’ll be servicing other local businesses, whilst Derby get the rent.

I’m sure many other clubs do the same; it’s all about location I suppose. What would work at Hillsborough?

Your right but with fairness I think it's been called the Emirates ever since it opened. Ashburton Grove is a bizarre choice imo, sounds like a cul de sac on a new housing estate lol

The Emirates imo is the best ground in the league it will be interesting to see how White Hart Lane 2019 compares. An interesting fact about the Emirates is that it is virtually a twin of the new Benfica stadium.

The irony is that when Spurs first announced their plans, the mock-ups couldn't have been more 'naming rights'-centric. Do they even have a deal in place yet?
