If you listen to people on here they're all crap and we don't want to keep em anyway.

Well, "people" are right then, cos they prety much are, bar a few exceptions.

According to the Star articles we are interested in keeping Bannan and Windass.

I would get rid of both but can understand Bannan being offered a contract.

But surely not Josh Windass, the bloke is a crock, do we never learn.

I would prefer to keep BB, JW is well past his best and is injury prone so let him go.

1 year: Bannan, Palmer, Vaulks, Johnson, Dawson

2 years: Iorfa

3 years: Bernard, Poveda

Release the rest. Wouldn’t be unhappy if we got Ugbo and Beadle again on loan, imagine both would be out of our reach financially though.

That still leaves us with 8-10 players to sign just to replace the ones we’re releasing/loan players who aren’t returning

Yeah, that's kind of the point, the duality of opinion/reality. The general gist of the article in the op seems to suggest it's a big issue and a potential mistake by the club but in reality there's only 5 or 6 of the 18 we'd consider keeping anyway.

Tbh, usually this is bad however that list needs trimming anyway.

Lots of injuries within that in recent seasons.

Paterson and Windass I expect to go. Palmer to be resigned. Bannan will be resigned should we stay up. I’d like Irofa to get a new deal. Suspect Bernard will have better offers. Expect Dawson to leave. Byers depends on leave but suspect he might leave too.

Theres really not much in that I’d be overly fussed about losing it Röhl is in charge to do a rebuild.

Its an ageing bunch of players within that list.

Is that ACTUALLY true?

Without research I actually don't know, if I'm being honest Neil. It was more of an educated guess than anything.

But our situation is not far different from most others. It's just the nature of the beast nowadays.

Most players we are scratching around to sign are a gamble in some way or other. Age. Fitness/injuries. Wages. Etc. And any players we would want to sign and would like to tie to 4 or 5 year deals are out of our reach.

So this is what we end up with, each and every summer.

Frustrating, I know. But it's always an opportunity every summer.

Keep;

Bannan, Palmer, Vaulks, Bernard, Iorfa

Do what we can to bring back Ugbo and Poveda.

A couple of those I've listed as keep might have been easier to say bye to if we weren't looking at another top to bottom rebuild, but you have to keep some form of continuity and experience. I think there's a lot to be said for keeping someone like Palmer around - experienced, versatile, squad player, modest wages - at a time when you're probably going to bring 10+ fresh faces in.

There will be a tipping point with Bannan, in the next 2 years. We need to put sentiment to one side and ensure don't offer a contract too far, i.e with Gregory this season.

I think I would keep him for another 12 months, if possible.

We have to stay up this season and Danny has to stay... The next calamity is just around the corner if not!

There could well be a calamity on the horizon whatever. DC has been very quiet.................
