Byers Reaction!

You weren’t there. You don’t know what was said. What we saw was a player clearly upset at getting subbed. And he reacted poorly. His job when getting subbed is to get off the pitch asap and support the team from that point on.

Smith shouldn’t have reacted either.

Peterborough will have laughed their balls off at such small time behaviour.

These lads are professional footballers for a reason. The key word is professional.

Whether it was the right or wrong decision to bring him off is irrelevant. Slippery slope to let players behave in such a way.

Byers is a very good player, and seems a decent character, so no major issue.

Officials close to the incident decided it was a booking for Smith didn't they so they saw & heard what was said.

Smith was at fault following Byers back to the dugout and pulling his shirt for all to see ... Byers was passionate and wanted to stay on ... and should have.

So players that are passionate and want to stay on, stay on?

Not according to DM.

Byers was the wrong sub for DM to make IMO ... whoever slotted into midfield after the sending off (and there were a few changes as the game wore on) offered nothing better than we would have got from Byers.

Byers out of order. I like him, can understand his disappointment at being subbed, but Moore was trying to salvage something for the team after being dropped in it by the sending off. Whether it was the correct decision or not is for another time. Byers should have been thinking of the big picture - there is no “I” in team.

You're wrong...the whole incident is on camera and Smith was booked. All fingers point towards poor management from the management team.

Get over it and get over yourself.

Only thing I agree with you on is the fact it isn't a big deal....it's been done hundreds of times in various games!! It wont be the last time either.

It looks like a storm in a teacup; not even “handbags at dawn”. I’m sure that it’ll get resolved by a handshake and a bit of banter on the training pitch.

I'd be a bit shocked and disappointed if there weren't similar bust ups most weeks in training. It certainly occurs regularly at top teams that are trying to be successful.

Taking him off was stupid.

His reaction was stupid.

The little assistants actions were stupid.

All in all, a complete sh*show which got picked up and was all over Twitter last night. Turns what was a bad night into a particularly bad one.

Congrats to all involved.

Seen it this morning not sure why Smith got booked. Also not sure why a Peterborough player fell down in the box with nobody near him just before they scored. Can only think he thought the ref was so crap they'd get another player sent off and a penalty.

DM is the root cause not James, not Byers or anyone else.  He as confirmed after that substitution how inept the guy is as a tactician. Totally unbelievable his decision making. Does Byers give the impression he's a mardy arse,  no he doesn't. Along with other  players maybe just pisssed off with his tinkering and woeful decision making. I think that substitution was very relevant as the whole structure and composure after that incident collapsed.  It says it all if Smith got booked regarding the fracas with Byers.  Byers runs his knackers off and is then rewarded by the dreaded hook. It looked as though we were playing with 9 men not 10.

Player’s (auto)biographies, podcasts (like Undr the Cosh) and the player “after dinner” circuit tells us exactly this.

How can anyone blame him for getting pissed off? He gets hooked off for a donkey of a centre back and has to watch Paterson attempt to play his role instead. Don't think Paterson was playing out and out centre midfield, but he dropped a lot deeper when we was down to 10. Therefore really, the starting trio could and should have remained. The back 5 got rejigged when it didn't really need to, all for the sake of bringing Iorfa on. I get his frustration, he's our most composed player and we needed that when down to 10 men. And Smith looks like he's suffering from small mans syndrome the jumped up little tool

I can’t see how anyone can say byres is at fault, unless he made Moores little Cobweb follow him, grab him and pull his shirt, the 4th saw the lot and decided to book smith that speaks volumes.

Byres only regret will be not just banging him.
