Why do people presume he'd come back here cause he's a Wednesday fan , he'll go where he's advised to go and where there's potential for him to improve further.

Him and his father to a degree weren't exactly the flavour of the month since young Hirst left. So what as changed. Folk suggesting he should come back here. I don't get it.

So many people happy to suggest they know what George Hirst thought or is thinking or trying to make out they know exactly what went off when Hirst was offered contracts or wages

But they dont

Dont fall for their attempts to convince you they know what went on or why Hirst left

Do you know?

He will make and has already become a good lower league striker. With a couple of seasons under his belt, I think he will play and score in the championship. He will never hit his Dads levels and I believe it would be a mistake for both parties to play here. However, if he came, he would get my absolute support, like every other Wednesday player.

I don't disagree with your opinion on this and I think there has been several occasions were we have been fed false information and assumed it be correct. However, I don't think this is one of those instances. Agreed we will never know the 100% truth but there is enough public information to form a sensible view on this one.

There was a fall out between Hirst snr and his role within the club (albeit none football related), this was well documented. A few months later Hirst Jnr find himself in a stalemate situation with the club and eventually leaves the club.

If you recall there was guest evening with Lee Bullen at Napoleons Casino shortly after all this unfolded and it was openly marketed as an "any question answered" event and the George Hirst situation was discussed in great length and with the exception of accurate financial numbers, pretty much everything was discussed. It was confirmed that he refused a loan away from the club as he didn't see it as progression and it was beneath his standards and it was confirmed that he was asking for an "average" first team strikers wage...which for a player of his age who hasn't made a first team league appearance, it's a little bit bizarre and to be fair to the club they made the right stance.

Aside the Hirst situation it is safe to say that lots of these youngsters are badly advised at critical stages of their careers. They are often promised "bigger & better" but more often than not it doesn't materialise and progression stalls.

Shame about past acrimony because  he would be a good fit for us now. Weve lacked an imposing physical presence up front this season.  Hirst seems to be developing  into just this type; and one that scores to boot.

Had we took the reported £2m when offered and there'd  been an amicable parting it might have been a real possibility. Mind you there'd  have been uproar  on here for a good while if we had taken the money offered back then.

I'd not heard this before now. If accurate it does temper some of the criticisms levelled against  the club.

9 league goals in 22 starts and 13 sub appearances is a good record at this level.

Still young and improving. Looking quite a good player and goal scorer at this level no he’s getting consistent game time. Has height, pace, bulked up and a very good strike on him.

Appears he will be available on the cheap. There aren’t many out and out strikers at his age that are performing well that are financially within our reach.

I think he will go on to become a good championship forward. I’d take him next season no matter what league we are in if he’s available.

Put emotions aside and I think he would be an asset to our current team and also have a large resale value.

I know for 100% certainty Hirst jnr was offered a loan move to Chesterfield.

I was told with 100% certainty that both Hirst jnr & snr told Chesterfield they wanted the move to happen. (The Hirst’s might have said something different to DC)

I can be 100% certain that Hirst snr told Chesterfield that DC wouldn’t sanction it without a huge loan fee. (DC may not have said this).

Sadly, I can see this being more true than Hirst refusing any loan deal.

We have only recently changed how we operate and sent players out on loan.

The first couple of seasons with DC at the helm, how many players actually went out on loan? I don't recall many. Unless I just didn't pay attention.
