Popular Post Lord Snooty
"So, who do we have this weekend Stubbs?" "Cheltenham, Sir" "Cheltenham! Don't talk to me about Cheltenham. We're going to be living off bread and water for the next 12 months after a disastrous festival. Sport of Kings indeed, corrupt to the core! I just want to forget the entire thing, Talk about the fixture computer rubbing ones nose in it" "Indeed ,Sir" " Still. football is a different Sport, eh. And one where I fully expect order restored. What team news for the Wednesday?" "Well, Sir, Windass has been ruled out, possibly for the season. Berahino is away on International duty and Wednesday are still without regular left sided centre backs Gibson and Palmer, leaving Moore a decision to make on Dunkley, Iorfa or Hutchinson as the man who has to move over." "Ye Gods. We can never get a break!" "It would seem that Windass is broken, Sir" "You know what I mean. Still, Cheltenham. Small place. Shouldn't be too much trouble for us even with our injury woes mounting. We should still be able to administer a good hiding. Don't you think? Tell me a bit about our victims." " Well Sir, they currently have similar form to , and are sat on the same points as, Accrington Stanley. Another team you were confident were queuing up for a hammering. No, I'm afraid Cheltenham are a standard a mid table team" "Goodnight Stubbs" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WEDNESDAY ~V~ CHELTENHAM Hillsborough Kick off: 3:00 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WEDNESDAY Northern Irish goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell is available to play this weekend before he leaves to join up with the national team. Sheffield Wednesday are without forward Saido Berahino, who is away on international duty with Burundi after enjoying a resurgence for the Owls, while key striker Josh Windass is out. Given those absences, Moore may have to choose between Callum Paterson, Florian Kamberi and Sylla Sow to partner Lee Gregory, while George Byers, Massimo Luongo and captain Barry Bannan form an impressive midfield trio. Elsewhere, defenders Chey Dunkley, Harlee Dean and Dominic Iorfa have all returned to contention recently, boosting competition in what has already been a strong defensive unit, with Sam Hutchinson and Preston North End loanee Jordan Storey vying to keep their places. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHELTENHAM Cheltenham's line will be led by Alfie May, who has hit 19 League One goals this term, 11 more than the 28-year-old had ever previously managed in a league campaign. Defender Sean Long was shifted out to the right-hand side against Plymouth, allowing Matty Blair to operate in the attack, and Mattie Pollock could again play alongside Will Boyle and Charlie Raglan in a back three to accommodate those alterations. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 17 11

striker
I was more confident at the start of this week, but losing Berahino, then Windass has knocked my duck off a bit. Not to be complacent as they have some decent players, a forward with a goals tally for example we can only dream of considering our top scorer stats. That said, they are mid table, staying up, which is job done for them this season and had a midweek away trip to Plymouth (and lost). We are generally better when we have a full week and on the balance of probability, we should have the edge today. I think they will come to play football, not just defend their box, in which case suits us. In a game of football, think we can win more comfortably than attack vs defence given our lack of attacking options to partner Gregory ( may as well just pick a name out of a hat, all equally underwhelming) Had a sneaky feeling for 2-0 to Wednesday so I'll go with that and a much needed 3 points today.
