Even more great news from SWFC - boxes almost sold out

Recommended Posts

There is a counter push back here. The Chairman has taken a few tentative steps for the good in the right direction that is to be applauded. some of the haters won't give in though, let us relax and give him a chance to flourish. Everyone was up his arse in the spendagedon era !

This is quite an incredible achievement considering how it’s been in recent years with a standoff between the chairman and the former box holders

Someone at the club has done a top job here and must have been giving assurances that the prices will be more realistic and the chairman won’t be in the picture

It will have took some real work to get these sold

Well done SWFC and the team responsible this is brilliant

................and no curry sauce in sight! lol

Never mind the pricing have a look at the margins and the bottom line. Chansiri was correct in asserting that the corporate customer was not a great earner for a club outside the top flight.

He absolutely wasn't right at all... But I'm interested to hear your view on this. Be specific.

Just to Chuck another dimension into the debate, me and a few mates sponsored a player every year. I can’t remember the amount but we chucked in, and it was good to feel part of the club, and you got a cracking night out with the players. But the price went up a stupid amount, and we said no, thats stupid, they’re pulling our pants down. I think quite a lot of others did too, and, as with the boxes, not only is the money not coming in but you are upsetting your fans/ customers.

Basic economics really, put the price up a little bit no one notices. Put it up a lot and people go WTF.

What isn't factored in by many to the pricing and profit or not on the boxes, is the increased connection to the community and local business via corporate guests and the goodwill it generates now and in the future.

That is the tack that should've been employed from the start; as should an affordable ticket pricing policy, but we are where we are, hopefully starting on a new course so supporting it is important.

I'd like to see interaction with schools and clubs again, trying to get those kids engaged with the club it's incredibly important for the future.

Spot on, it’s engaging with the businesses that also employ your supporters. And it’s not just boxes that these businesses support, they also take out tables at club events throughout the year. It’s thousands of pounds, and considering we have just been relegated owed to botched accounting wizardry it really does show up how stupid the Chairman’s actions were alienating these people to begin with.

But can we also appreciate that chansiri / Dooley, has realised it’s been a clusterfuck, and are putting it right.

season ticket prices/ boxes / potg/ kit/ signings have all been good. “ rejoice in that” as some crazy old bird once said.

That's one way of looking at it...but.

If you borrowed money to build/develop the boxes then that has to be paid back so you've got to add that in.

Any business asset is written down in value over a set period or over it's lifetime. If you don't add a bit on (quite a bit) you get to the end of the life of the asset when it becomes useless and you've got no money to replace it.

Nothing is ever simple.lol

There has been no money spent on Hillsborough since the redevelopment for Euro 96. DC can spent on the stadium, he can improve the youth facilities and the training ground. No affect what so ever from P&S but he chooses to spend nothing to improve the infrastructure.

he hasn't even given the very tired looking stadium a new lick of paint.

I know someone that spent £1k a year - then was told the following season it was £5k for the same player

The fact that Chansiri has elected to be far less personally involved in the running of the club, and that the EFL are forcing us to operate in a market where there is no longer anything in it for his 'advisers', can only be good news.  Long may it continue.

But let's not pretend he wasn't arseing around not paying the players in a fit of pique over them getting him relegated literally a month ago, and was putting out passive aggressive statements about how everything was everyone's fault but his about a fortnight ago.  Or that we are not still one patented Chansiri self-destructive episode away from a 6 point deduction.

Never understood the pie at full time idea - basically just a couple of hours after a 3 course meal in a box.

To put a pie in front of people who have just had a 5 course meal 2 hours previously is even more bizarre

It’s just a way of getting rid of unsold pies ….ITK

So over the season how much profit can the club expect to make from the corporate side of things?

I have it on (excellent authority) that pre Chansiri the boxes alone made well over £200k a season profit, after all costs paid.
