Unsustainable Player Recruitment

According to transfermarkt we sold darko kovacevic for 7.2m.

Your point still stands though!

This is the era of 100mill + transfer deals, with pretty average players going for tens of millions of pounds. Our biggest transfer fee is 7.2 mill from twenty odd years ago. That should tell you everything you need to know about both our nous in the transfer market and the general calibre of player we’ve employed over their years.

How many of those were players that we could have sold? Some at least, but others were crocks whose value was basically zero the day after they joined.

Apart from a burst of good signings in DCs first year, I doubt more than 50% of players have been a success. But that’s what happens when you do t go out and but someone the other club would like to keep, but get players released from their youth system, or who spent most of the past couple of years injured.

The way Hull have responded does give hope that things can turn around quickly. They were in a sorry state towards the end of last season, getting hammered regularly and were the only team in the Championship to get less points than us in the second half of 2019/20.

I thought Hull would struggle this season yet they ended up winning the league.........they didn't have Chansiri running the club though ....we do !

True, but their owners have hardly done much to give their fans much to smile about in recent years either, some stayed away when we played them at Wembley due to the way the club was being run.

The fact that selling Forestieri and Reach could have balanced the books, yet both walked away for nothing, is unforgivable mismanagement given the fact Chansiri knew our accounts and the P&S rules he was blundering headfirst into.

Chansiri’s biggest mistake for me.

Crazy not to offload when it’s basic financial common sense.

Same with Iorfa last summer. Could have got decent money for him.

Just beggars belief when you look at the outcome.

I’m sorry but if we’ve turned good morning eh down in the last for Forestieri, Bannan and Lees for example then the owner needs to re-sit any business exams he may have taken in the past. We could have adult tripled our money on Forestieri at the right time and done even better on deals for Bannan and Lees.

The non sales of FF, Reach, and signing of Rhodes have set us back 50 years.

DC, making Dave Richards and Dave Allen look competent.

50 years hahahahaha

It must be hard though when fans are saying don’t sell our best players; like Hirst in his day and Forestieri to some extent.

Although with Forestieri, he should have been sold after not wanting to play.

But Brentford and others seems to just find replaces after season

So what. Fans dont have to balance the books.

Its fine, we sold the ground instead. No bother. When it happens again we just sell another ground.....🤣
