The Usual Overreactions

It's you what's overreacting by stating that people are overreacting. We've just watched an abysmal display of football and commented on it accordingly.

It’s hard to feel positive after what felt like watching a 100+ minute endurance exercise designed to test the outer fringes of the definition of ‘entertainment’. It was ponderous, uninspiring drudgery and truly felt like we could’ve played until new year’s day without scoring a second.

I’m normally among the last to give in to pessimism but put it this way, if we don’t see some new names on the teamsheet in Jan then we’re looking at a pretty joyless 2020, been bullying our way to results last two months and we’re starting to look like the fight’s going a bit.

Of course I’ll take sixth after some very middling performances, but still fed up tonight, it was just cobblers that.

worse yet, while I’m moaning: Cardiff were bloody awful, and I’m sick to the back teeth of saying that about teams we make massively heavy weather of.

Not the best performance today but also not the worst. We deserved to lose because they scored two and we scored one but on another day we'd have got something.

Funny game today. I thought first half - bar the major exception of the goals :duntmatter: we were OK.

Second half we just didn’t create anything. Bannan was trying so hard and put a right shift in but his tendency to

look for the glory ball for forwards who are simply not mobile enough contributed to the overall air of slight panic.

I personally don’t think this team is ready for the PL. we are a decent championship team, that on our day will beat most teams, but if we are not on it, we look bang average, unlike West Brom who don’t have to play well but will still get the results. If by miracle we go up, we would only struggle and end up like Cardiff/Huddersfield. We need a fresh team. Young and hungry that we can build on. Right now I don’t see that.

If you can get promotion you take it. Everything else comes later.

It is a bit of an overreaction tbh

The fact is, we’re an average championship side with an over reliance on a quality striker in Steven Fletcher

This is a terrible league and anyone can beat anyone. 6 points separate 3rd from 13th ffs

Its not hysterics...Its disappointment in the display...and lets be honest..it was poor.

Like you said the team that played like "That" against Leeds..Shows what they can do

I know as an Owls fan you expect the odd blip either way..but this team is better than what we saw today.

On top of that you have fans who are paying more money than most, fans who are having to cope with swingeing , ridiculous regulations, and fans who have been served this stuff up for 2 f.ookin' decades

"Top 6 2020"

If you had said that 4 years ago..I would presume you meant the Prem...but no...Here we are...same place, same hopes, same despair...its not hysterics..its bloody disappointment mate

It is disappointing but it’s the same team and a similar performance that got us a 4-0 win at forest - whereby after we had an excellent striker in Rhodes, the manager was the best we’ve had for ages, the team are all playing for each other etc etc etc

We weren’t that good at Forest and we weren’t that bad today

We have a mid table team, with 3 or 4 decent players and a manager still learning about the club and squad.

The season ticket holders and excellent away support is the only thing that can be relied on now and for the decades of mediocrity.

Sadly not only is it relied upon it’s taken for granted

A caller on praise and grumble summed it up... The club has lost its "life"

Not sure what's happened but just look at the atmosphere, especially before second half kick off and during injury time, the place is silent. Even today when we should have deafened the ref with "off off off".

Noticed winnall at one stage trying to gee up the kop.

Genuinely think it goes back to the United match a few years back and also we don't seem to have any characters in our squad (maybe hutch apart) we can get behind.

The atmosphere is now split between the Kop and North, always used to be the Kop.

Winnall trying to gee up the kop might be better done on the pitch rather then gesturing...he would be another one out of the door for me.

That song they come out to in the second half is enough to dampen any atmosphere!!!

A year ago nobody thought we would be top 6 now.

We finally have a promising young manager who may actually stay with us for a few seasons and is working only with players he inherited.

On the pitch at least things are without doubt moving in a positive direction.

Hopefully DC's legal team can prevent off field issues ruining things.

Here we go again....two defeats on the trot (not unheard of for any team), and that's the end of the season.

Still in the top 6 and with a useful goal difference.  Blimey, WBA lost to M'bro today, the much-vaunted Brentford and Preston lost too.

Perspective, boys, please.  In case you've forgotten, this is football - and we go again after the cup-tie.

Firdst defeat at home since August - can't say that's bad, for a team that isn't exactly Liverpool.

UTO

Can deal with losing but not capitulating.

The Kop needs to be better than half full every match to have an impact on atmosphere. It’s a tired old stand and the price for season tickets/match day tickets should reflect that.

Should work out at £12 a match for a season ticket and maximum £20 for individual pay on the gate

£33+ to sit on there is a joke

I don’t think it’s overreacting to point out that no-one trumped today.

The reason the atmosphere is dead is quite simple.

You just have to look what’s happening across the city. You all hate to admit it, but it’s true. They’ve killed our spirit.

Only those with NO spirit to begin with...if we were in the Prem you'd still be slagging the team and club off...waiting for the club to fail has a lot to do with it so go figure. The fact we're in the playoff positions after the summer we had says a lot for the good work the manager has done with the same group of players that have failed before...nothings going to change especially for those who are rubbing their hands gleefully every time we drop points

If anyone has that mindset then they are very sad people

“We can’t get behind our team as our neighbours are doing better”

The atmosphere is no better or worse than it has been for a long time at home and like most support!

Fuller ground + exciting games = better atmosphere

Not too difficult
