Popular Post Lord Snooty
Fletcher - We're 99% sure. Very hopeful. Another session in the morning but we're very hopeful. We'll see if there's any reaction. When you have a player in that position in the form that he's in, the goals he's been scoring and also his performances since the start of the season of course he's going to be a miss (when he's out) you need your most inform strikers available but, as i've said, that will happen through the course of a season. Players will be injured or suspended or ...missed in some way or another and you have to try cope with that. Tom Lees- He was out on the pitch again today so ....even though he's not doing full contact yet he's ticking all the boxes so we'll see (in the last session) but it'd probably there's no point risking it for the game on Saturday really. I mean, I could put him on the bench, but why even risk that. Changes? - I've got to, Sam's suspended! Also it's a 3rd game in a week so we have to look at that. Overall we've been performing well , there's always food for thought as a manager do you change this, do you change that? You look at all the scenarios. To get a team out on the pitch to win the game. Big Dom Iorfa - At this moment in time all that matters is now, our focus is the here and now. We'll see of course in the future where he's best, but we can't predict what he can be. I'd lean towards saying he's a centre back rather than a full back, but we focus on the now, especially with Tom Lees injured. He's come in and done well with Julian and we've needed him to. Jordan Rhodes & Sam Winnall form - It's two ways. It's for me to work with them on a daily basis and give them that belief. But it's their job as well to fight for it. We all go through those phases and periods. You have to fight your way out of it. It's how you perform in difficult periods. I can see their determination. Regardless of like Sam scoring against Huddersfield it's the fight and the performance because goals come off the back of performance, not the other way around. They have to keep doing their fitness , keep fighting. International Break - That will be the period when I can get to really work with the players. Go into more indepth work. I split parts of the games and principles up and work through them, but I won't move on until I know they have got what I mean and got to that level before I move onto the next thing. We've worked on shape and distances defensively and set pieces. Some attacking movements we want in place and balance so we don't get countered. But in the break I want to work on more offensive stuff in the International break . Wigan - Cooky has done a great job. Experienced, done a great job at Wigan and Portsmouth before that. They have fire, they have quality, great set pieces, another game where we will have to be right on it. It's a tough game. They will run! Paul Cook is a great guy, very funny, but he's smart. He knows what he's doing. Most important for us, I said to the lads after (Hull) we'll have set backs we have to go into the International break with three points and a positive feeling. They have very attacking full backs. Physically they are a handful. They work very hard we have to match that. They're one of the best in the league at set pieces, but we're at home. We need to make it a fortress and take regular wins there and get that crowd behind us just like the Fulham game. Get that crowd ferocious. Adam Reach's Belly - Social media. Banter. Ha. He's 8 or 9% body fat is all you need to know. Quite funny to be fair. Adam is one of the fittest players at this club! Doubling up on Harris - Run better move better. The others need to think too, if they do that then it means others are free and getting space to exploit. Overall I'm very pleased with him. He has pace and power and end product and if we can improve him, make him more consistent we can help him achieve his full potential. 13

shezzas left peg
Was a bit dubious about him as I've said before, but the more you hear him talk the more he begins to make you realise how good he could be for us.
Bouncing Owl
He knows what he’s doing does Monk. I’ve commented on here that defensive shape is good and he’s already done a lot of work there. I really do think we are in safe hands.
fred mciver
Kieran back to his rightful replace at right -back would improve defence and attack.

oldishowl
It will be very interesting to see any changes after the international break to improve us offensively . He is right about Wigan. They are a physical, big , strong running side and will be a tough challenge.
Samurai Blue
My favourite part of the press conference: "Where are the threats gonna come from, from Wigan... on Saturday...? What we ought to look out for actually f**k it I can't be arsed finishing this question. Do you mind if I just sit here quietly and... meh."
WalthamOwl
Be great news to have Fletcher back. So important we keep him fit. On one hand if we are to win tomorrow I feel he has to play but on the other I would hate for him to come back to soon and get injured again. Tough decisions for Monk. pazowl55
So basically he is saying Winnall and Rhodes need to perform better to be able to score goals. Couldn't agree more.

mrrodge
Sounds like he's looking for Winnall and Rhodes to put a shift in. Hard work will equal a return to form. Sulking and feeling sorry for yourself hoping for something to happen won't work.

They are just not good enough to do anything but hang about and put the ball in the net and at the minute they aren't even doing that.

Owls Loyal
I do have some symapathy with Jordan Rhodes. In league matches he has not had a start and has hardly had any minutes. If only someone could get him scoring again it would ease this huge problem that the club has of his contract and wages.

TBH Fletcher missing out on international duty is a bonus for us, same applies to Westwood. Even more so when you listen to the importance GM places on working with the squad over the international break.
NorthernOwl
Nice to see him putting the reach being unfit rumours to bed. Anyone who has a actually watched a game this year knows it was rubbish. But plenty still seemed happy to stick the boot in.
tarn owl
Out of all the managers we've had for a while, if he was going for any job interview i think he would get the job ahead of others we've had, you would trust him being a salesman or working in HR. Talks sense and looks the part. Lets hope he keeps producing results. Also the reach question? really? Why don't we ask him what his favourite pie is seen as we are playing Wigan? or where was he when Ben Watson scored against City in the FA cup final? Im far from convinced by Winnal, but against Town and Hull I thought he found brilliant space and created plenty for others. Plus, he’s got on the end of crosses to score one and narrowly miss two. Best he’s played for us.
