Benfica want Reach

Recommended Posts

Good player, but not irreplaceable. Think £10m is low, if they come back with a reasonable offer, worth considering.

The very best teams sell players, at the right time, for the right money. We should approach our transfer business in the same way. We're a mid table team with or without reach, a sale of £12m+ could give us the resources to challenge next season.

This. I am a big fan of Adam Reach but in our squad he's too often used as a utility man rather than to his strengths. We need to raise money, and it would be a good move for him. As close to £15M as possible, a sell-on clause, and I'd be happy.

The stir taking a very old story from a few weeks ago and running with it, looks like the standard of journalism has got a new low.

The benfica manager used to be our coach under carlos, he made an inquiry a month or so ago the club said no.

This is another nothing story by our very useless local paper.

Gone are the days of the Greenun when the journalist attended the games and spoke with the club to get information. Now they just trawl the internet for old stories.

No offer mentioned. Just Lage waffling with his local journo's.

It’s a direct quote from their manager Bruno Lage, who was Carlos’ assistant here.

No 10m mentioned, no bid, no nothing.

Manager of European giants name-drops Sheffield Wednesday’s Adam Reach as report claims he considered move

Bruno Lage had Portuguese journalists scratching their heads on Friday when he name-dropped a Sheffield Wednesday midfielder during a conversation about transfer window targets.

Lage was Wednesday’s assistant manager for two-and-a-half years under Carlos Carvalhal.

But after a short spell in charge of Benfica’s second string and an even shorter one as first-team caretaker boss, he is now leading the Eagles on a full-time basis.

“Since I’m a nice guy, I’ll give you one more name,” Lage said, as quoted by Mais Futebol. “Adam Reach.

“He’s like a player like Chiquinho [the Benfica attacking midfielder], but he doesn’t have a moustache, like André Almeida [the Benfica right-back]. He is more like Chris Waddle [the legendary former Sheffield Wednesday and England winger].”

The Portuguese website claims, through its own information, that Reach’s signing was considered by Benfica in the summer transfer window, but a move to the Estadio da Luz failed to advance.

The 26-year-old scored or made 16 goals in 46 games for Sheffield Wednesday last season.

The Owls are reported to have paid around £5 million for Reach in 2016, handing him a five-year contract.

10-15 is the right bracket.

Still like to see him get a run on the left hand side for  a long stretch and see what he could do.

But...money talks..and we need some.

I agree. £15m sounds about right, Man United paid similar for Dan James so we should be able to get a similar fee.
