room0035
so the first ever game at Hillsborough was played in a blue and white striped shirt, the guy second from the left looks a bit like Peter Shilton.

Goal areas were not straight lines like today, in those days. And the penalty area didn't have the semi-circular arc of today.

The Night-Owl
Got one of those the other day too. History is fascinating and Wednesday's long varied history is one of the things that intrigues me most about the club and was one of the things that appealed to me the most about Wednesday. The Spiksley book is a great read. Football was a much different game back then, players were more working class and tougher. Spiksley and Crawshaw are two of the greatest players we've ever had along with the likes of Blenkinsop; Wilson, Rimmer, Robinson, Springett, Waddle and Nilsson. Without history and fans, football would be nothing, these days both are overlooked for all the money and fame.
