can't stand the weasel agent input

but whilst these potential departures are seen as some sort of disloyalty and treason

it's their job so most young lads whatever their job when offered double triple wages will follow the cash

Absolutely they will follow the money even if it takes them ultimately into non league football, short term thinking get the cash while you can.

Another maddening situation. On one hand I’m sure we’re all extremely sick of being held to ransom by youngsters whose appearances you can count on one hand. That being said, it makes you wonder what on Earth the improvements in our youth structure were for if we’re just going to let all our brightest prospects leave at the end of their contracts.

We've got some arguably even more talented even younger players coming through. Perhaps the answer is to secure them to longer contracts on reasonable money at an earlier stage before heads get turned by a modicum of attention. It's difficult though. At we haven't opened the floodgates for all the other youngsters to make demands that the club can't afford to meet.

This.  Borderline offensive he thinks he deserves a move out.

Clare is being badly advised.  I don't understand where he thinks he has any leverage here.  Oh well.  Not concerned in the least.  Door, arse.

Is he another one Doyen have got their claws into ?

It's crazy to let the likes of Hirst and Clare leave, regardless of how good people think they are.

Why sign older players on big wages and let younger ones escape? I don't get why we went for the higher academy category band if that's what we are going to do. The risks are far less giving potential a chance than the alternative.

Fletcher or Hirst

Abdi or Clare

There are arguments to suggest that Hirst and Clare will have done just as much in the time that Fletcher and Abdi have been here and on a percentage of their wage. We also have the added bonus of rather than spending millions we are potentially making money as they are saleable assets.

How are we letting them go if they refuse to sign a new deal and want to leave?

Think we let it go on too long personally. Other suitors have now come sniffing.

Carlos should have been giving Hirst game time last season when he was on the bench. It could all be different now if he did.

Why should he have been given Hirst game time?

What has Hirst done to see him picked above Hooper, Nando, Fletcher and so on.

Absolutely nothing.

That was never going to happen mate..s*it or bust with Carlos.... understandable but long term club interests were never on his radar imo.

Exactly.

Carlos's remit was to get us promoted.

Very few managers nowadays are going to chuck the kids in when their job is on the line.

Some fans live in cloud cuckoo land.

Maybe...where Wednesday are concerned it's so hard to be dispassionate tho...

I do understand why people lose reason at times.

The game needs to move to a situation where the pay is performance related.

There should be a basic level of weekly pay that is guaranteed and everything else should depend on appearances and results. That way whatever the age of the player they get paid what they are worth to the club as a whole.

Sadly in today's game it's never going to happen.
