What does Jos mean?

Doing some running next pre season will be an improvement on Carlos’ pre season schedule of playing cards and doing keepy uppys for 2 months

And Stoop wins this threads 'Carlos obsession' bingo as being the first person to mention Carlos.

Well done for not letting us down

When he says difficult decisions will have to be made in the Summer to avoid a repeat of the injury crisis this season.

Get rid of half the squad?

Reduce the age of the squad?

Sack another medical team?

Or send them all to boot camp and running up and down the Alps to get them fit?

All these and change the training ground.

The strange thing is this.

Hutchinson is a crock, and were he not a crock then he wouldn't be here.

In fact, he probably wouldn't even be in this division.

Yet his playing record here, all things considered, isn't as bad as you'd expect.

Other players, whom you'd expect to play most games for us, have spent more time in the treatment room than on the pitch.

So what's that all about?

Agree entirely re Hutch. Overall record not as bad as people say. If fully fit he would not be with us.

My understanding is that Tony Toms has been contacted by Jos to get everyone in shape.

I doubt todays pampered players would last ten minutes with Tony Toms.

Westwood - groin injury - operation -suffered setback - out 5 months

Jack Hunt - knee injury - two spells out - longest 1-2 months

Morgan Fox - hamstring - out 2 months

Tom Lees - groin injury - operation - out 5 months

Joost Van Aken - hamstring - suffered setback - now needs operation - out 4 months

Sam Hutchinson - fractured leg and hernia operation - only played 7 games all season

Barry Bannan - hip injury - suffered setback - out 4 months

Ross Wallace - knee injury - operation - out 4 months

Kieran Lee - hip injury - 2nd operation - out 6 months

George Boyd - shoulder injury - 2 operations - out 4 months

Fernando Forestieri - acl injury - operation - out 7 months

Steven Fletcher - knee injury - operation - out 5 months

Gary Hooper - groin/hip injury - out 4 months

Sean Clare - ankle injury - operation - out 2 months

Marco Matias - ? - suffered setback - out 2 months

Almen Abdi - every part of his body - out for most of season

That doesn't even include short term injuries to some of other players who have missed games like Palmer, Joao, etc.

Unbelievable when you see it written down.

That's 10 players needing operations and 11 players out for 4 months plus.

Something certainly does need to change.

I think he’ll do his best (some more easy than others due to contracts)  to move Hutchinson, matias, abdi, Lee (cry), Boyd, Wallace and Westwood on.

Anyone considered Chansiri might just think f@$k it and pay up some of the players contracts, and then buy some decent new players this summer?

Realistically we are heading for a transfer embargo anyway, so maybe hes figured its worth paying up the flops and crocks and spending big, getting a squad of decent players together to take us through the embargo. Clearly hes not worried about bringing money in as we aint sold anyone since hes been here.

Not saying it will happen, but its the potential otherside of the coin in respect of us having to sell our stars for FFP.

Just send them running up and down the Alps.

That will get rid of half our squad by death or injury, the older ones will probably be the first to go and the medical team will resign given their inabiliy to cope with the treatment room carnage.

We used to turn down players that we suspected of having injury issues. One famously signed for united played a couple of games then ended up crocked due to the suspected problem we turned him down for. Now we sign players that come to us already carrying injuries or just recovered from potentially serious injuries.

To be fair Ryan France was on trial with us during pre season, played a few games and even scored, we offered him a contract but Bryan Robson who was manager at United at the time made him a bigger offer as we were skint so he went there. A lucky escapee rather than a calculated rejection of the player due to concerns over his fitness.

Jos wants to identify the underlying cause of these injuries. It’s too many to just be bad luck, something is (or was) systematically wrong.

I’m not ITK and this is second hand info, but a old colleague I trust told me he’d been talking to one of the physio staff recently (not sure if from the old or new team).

He said that they always prepared detailed rehab plans which Carlos never once followed - he just got them playing after a couple of days back in training.

Chimes with what Hutch was saying recently about Jos easing him back slowly, when Carlos always left it to him to declare himself fit.

Would explain a few things if true.

Hence sacking the previous medical team as they pushed back on Carlos rushing everyone back without due rehab time

I am questioning the decision why our previous medical team got sacked (by Carlos' request?) and why we got the one we have currently... was it to have medical staff that would nod yes to CC and rush players back the moment they were back on their feet, whereas the old team were maybe playing it safe along the lines of Jos' current regime?

The Championship is a tough league compared to all others, with 46 league games and cups in addition, you're likely talking about 50 +/- throughout the season and that will take its toll, more so on the older players, and especially if fitness requirements have been slack. We definitely need to get a proper training regime to ensure our players can achieve the fitness and stamina required of this league.

However, Jos has inherited a broken squad and has to build them up all carefully - rather than hitting the ground running with many fresh legs and just building further on fitness on top of that... the damage is already done here, getting them all fit is apparently a lot more injury-prone than just shipping them all off to boot camp.

And he has already acknowledged players like Loovens are past it age-wise, and that means we'll need new, younger options coming in if it's possible. Van Aken will recover; I seriously hope Hutch does too. I hope Fox recovers enough to be sent back to League 1 or 2 where he came from; Loovens needs to be thanked for his service and let go, etc.

Need to do tests like the AC Milan doctors do. Check bone strength based on teeth and hair. Their are signs with people who have weak bones. Unfortunately that doesn't cover for  musckle injuries - maybe re do the training pitch for them?
