We went there about a month later (November) and lost 1-0, I think. I remember their song: He's only a poor little cockney. His clothes are all tattered and torn. He came for a fight. So we set him alight. And now he don't come anymore. Edited April 4, 2020 by roaminowl

Maybe a company dreamt up by Bert McGee to get around financial restrictions? Trivia fact about that photo - both the Liverpool players ,whose faces you can see, later signed for Wednesday,

scilly owl
Loved Shelts... I remember him talking in an interview about his unusually long arms ...like a flippin gibbon. If he was around now there would be a love fest thread about him every week. When he crossed the white line he gave everything for Wednesday,

Sheffield Wednesday score from a set piece...that they've rehearsed countless times this season...and practice has made perfect." The throw in from Sterland was touched by 3 Newcastle players before Megson headed it over to Shelton. Tactical genius from Wilkinson to involve the Newcastle players in our set piece rehearsals.

Owls Loyal
Shelts was a great signing and fantastic player for us. Not many players could have worked so well in Sgt Wilko's 5-2-3 formation which took other teams by surprise. The work that Shelts and Megson got through in midfield was outstanding. They were immense and Shelts never backed off anything. In the promotion season, we must have played about 55 matches and they hardly missed a game between them. And today players get arsey if they have to play 3 games in a week.

DB2002
Shelts was my favourite player of the time, and his goals at Newcastle and Liverpool are without doubt two of the best memories of watching Wednesday over the years. Shelton had the photo of him scoring in front of the Anfield Kop blown up and framed on the wall in his house.
