best grub around the ground or Hillsborough on a match day ,

Recommended Posts

There's this great place called Kentucky Fried Chicken.

It's a few minutes away from the Lepping Lanes end.

Think they are new on the scene.

The chicken is to die for, what with the secret blend of 11 herbs and spices (I reckon one of them is salt).

Get yourself a "family bucket" and you'll be full to the brim with protein, carbs and saturated fat.

Think you will find that ones shut down mate.

Unquestionably Four Lanes Chippy.  If we go there we leave home at least 20 mins earlier.  But often the best bit of the day.

Nice people.  You don't have to go there very often to be recognised as a regular.  But they're good judges of whether you are in the market for some kind of banter, or just a polite exchange.

Non-football opening hours are a bit odd,  Like many chippies round these parts, open and close early.

Chinese chippy on Penistone Road without a doubt.  Chips and Curry!!  Great way to kick-off match day.

Even better when it's an evening game. Their chips and curry wins every time.

Never tried four lanes though. Always been a massive queue.

Trafalgar Fisheries is decent, about 10 minutes walk up Halifax Road where we used to park for a match. Just on the corner of Trafalgar Road as you go up Fox Hill.

Gives you plenty of time to finish it all while walking down to the ground.

Riverside on catchbar lane is good but it's just too busy nowadays.  Same with Rawson spring, too busy for eating.  Rubys is a good breakfast.   Chinese on Penistone Road is excellent (them giant spring rolls  ) on a cold night but your hands don't half get greasy.  Usually use Subway on Hillsborough corner these days, healthy and good value.

If people don't know where this place is then there is something seriously wrong!!

exactly,

we have people moaning about food in the ground, and to be honest Bear Grylls would struggle with most of it, but you have the four lanes, and the hoong too within 200yds of the turnstyles
