agentwalker
From my understand the fibres are not on the surface there injected deep and the natural root of the real grass wraps round the injected fibres and reinforce the grass so you don't get diviots forming. GY-owl.4
not sure the grass is left to 4 or 5cm tbh, that sounds like my sunday league pitch... but the fibres do stick up 2cm. so in theory i guess you can never cut the grass below 2cm,
mattitheowl
The lad who was surveying today works for the company who did the Millennium and Parc Des Princes last year. Just not bothered...

The Millenium is definitely a Desso hybrid pitch, not sure about Parc Des Princes.
Guest Ash76
It was zilch 3 years ago and pitch looked great. Then our groundsman walkedHe walked because it needed investment, he knew it'd get where it is now.Gray does t sound sure what type of pitch it is does he and if it's 800k is 200k enough to address drainage etc? I wouldn't go jumping gun about what type of pitch it will be Edited March 14, 2015 by Ash76
StudentOwl
The Millenium is definitely a Desso hybrid pitch, not sure about Parc Des Princes. We're getting a Desso pitch boys My limited French knowledge (I dated a French girl, learnt all sorts) tells me that Parc Des Princes is a Desso pitch ... Not unless the bloke surveying got the sack and now works for B&Q

BarnOwl55
We,ve been promised spending of £1M on the pitch this year. Having seen H'bro for many years, especially in its hey-day when we seemed to host an FACup Semi, almost every year, and the pitch ,even a the year end, looked well, it pains me to go up into the South, half-way and see it in its present state. I appreciate that we've had to cope with some problems with drainage, and a couple of floods, but I,ve never seen it in the condition it is. However, its not the worst. Looking at the TV recently, I have seen worse - Blackpool and the Bradford pitch for two - I was interested to see the state of Goodison last night, but couldn't find whether it's artificial or not. The favourite seems to be the 'Desso', being used by many of the top clubs and of the smaller lower clubs. Do we know what it will be for us? Good post...............but I can remember semi-finals in late 60s/early 70s when Hillsborough was a complete mud bath - made for some entertaining football, especially with the likes of Bremner and Hunter sliding in on their backsides with both feet studs up!! mattitheowl
Can I just clarify, my mate doesn't work for Desso though. So maybe other companies are subcontracted to lay them or other companies have a similar technology. Just not bothered...
Guest Ash76
Why don't you just ask if he installs Desso pitches and if that's what he's surveying us for? If I was a betting man I'd guess that's not what we're going for
TheSlicer
No I think the artificial fibres are injected to leave them about 2cm above the surface whearas the natural grass is cut to a length of 4 or 5cm. Is that how long the grass is cut that seems long to me. Though ive only ever played on concord park 😂
Freshfish
Can I just clarify, my mate doesn't work for Desso though. So maybe other companies are subcontracted to lay them or other companies have a similar technology. ..they bring in local specialists who know the soil conditions, special requirements re: drainage and grass types needed to do the initial ground work and then bring in the Desso machines... Though ive only ever played on concord park 😂 On reflection it does seem a bit on the long side, I quoted the 4 to 5cm more as an example of how the natural grass is cut longer than the 2cm artificial fibres. steelcityowlsfan
Was looking at the pitch today and wondered if we might widen it putting the lines back to where they were before Megson narrowed them. If we get 2 quality wingers in this could help us regain a home advantage and start winning at home. .
