Kaiserslautern which was also wrong ...

It was shameful, easily  worst moment being an Owl.

Would the idiots doing it be quite as happy if they had brought a big Maples flag with bombs on it.

Encouraged and orchestrated by the good old 'Sheffield Star' Having said that Kaiserslautern was quite an incendury night, Flares of bright red everywhere.

Non hooligan related was away at Chesterfield many years ago when we were all stuck outside at kick off cos the turnstiles couldn't cope with our numbers, an exit gate got kicked down and we were swept inside in a crush whether you wanted to or not, feet never touched the ground.

There were loads of occasions like that in the 70s and 80s where we were getting crushed.. infact Peterborough away last match at theirs when we went up 04/05 was scary outside turnstiles

Millmoor most times in that death trap alleyway.

West Ham away in the 80’s when Mirocevic went and bloody scored. Thank god we lost 2-1.

Always very very worried when we play pigs. Not the BBC, but the massive fear of losing.

I was at that West Ham game , was about 15 at the time , they were baying for blood after the game , never seen anything like it before then , good job there were coppers about escorting Wednesday fans back to tube

You cottoned on a lot earlier than I did mate. I was totally oblivious to it until you said we better get outta here and keep our heads down.

I remember Fid not being concerned at all about what was happening. Made me feel a lot better.

I was in that mob getting escorted back to the tube as well.

Apparently they waited until there were the last few queuing to get in before they attacked us.

Same thing happened at the turnstiles, same game.

Its like going to the library nowadays.

Completely different atmosphere, if you weren't actually scared when going away in yesteryear, you were at least wary of your surroundings.

Today you can go in to more or less any pub (outside of Derby Games) and chat to the opposition fans. Much more relaxed.

That's a good thing for sure

Another shout out for the Man U semi. Like everyone has said, we were doing this at plenty of other games but anyone with half a brain cell would’ve realised that doing it against them wasn’t going to end well. Saying that, I really wasn’t expecting the complete carnage that awaited us on the exit. Seemed to be absolutely no police whatsoever and spent the next few minutes dodging windmill punches coming from everywhere! Anyone coming out of that away end seemed fair game for them - women, youngsters, middle-aged scarfers. Must’ve been naive back then because remember going to the home leg and not thinking much about it and then seeing the reverse happen with Wednesday fans attacking Utd fans all over the place to get revenge.

As somebody who regularly went to games in the 70's and 80's it was part of the matchday to dodge hotspots and likely clashes

So i never really was that bothered about violence - Millwall away when we drew 3-3 in 79 however...

But the most scared (petrified) i have been at a game was Palace away when we needed to win (or Arsenal to not win) in order to claim a place in Europe

We were 1 up then that t.wat (soon to be hero) Mark Bright scored an immense equaliser - i was f**king distraught

It finished 1-1 then news filtered through that Arsenal had been held 0-0 at Chelsea

We had qualified for europe - i never ever thought i would see the day. The Wednesday were going to play in bona fide European competition

Emotional doesn't begin to describe it

Twice in manchester .both night games, the dambusters obviously,I didnt get involved, but you could tell from their reaction it wasnt going to end well,it was all hell let lose outside.

The other time was at City,a night game we won 2-1,wed done well to avoid all the building materials chucked at us on the way in,the way out having won,and our car park down some dingy street in moss side,we couldnt remember the name of,didnt bode well from the off,the two cops escorting us all soon peeled off and city fans were everywhere, after a few near misses,we ended up with a mere 50 city fans lobbing bricks stones and literally owt they could throw, every house seemed to be boarded up,those that werent had scumbags screaming "there down here",hairy bet we found the car and a way off the estate after a 30 minute jog

The only other time I can recall thinking I was on my way to heaven was at chelsea one year,we were escorted back to fulham broadway by the cops, but the number of police seemed to dwindle along the way untill my mate said, the cops have gone I hadnt really noticed, they seemed to pour out of everywhere, over this big banking, and in huge numbers and seriously outnumbered us,it was bedlum, most of us copped it,at one stage I didnt think wed make the station,it was a huge brawl, easily the worst I got caught up in

If it kicks off, I can’t say Ive ever felt scared. That’s not me giving it the big I am, it’s just those sort of incidents were a regular occurrence back in the day. Once you get a slap, you don’t really worry too much, it’s more of an adrenalin rush Bet there’s plenty who don’t consider themselves hooligans, who actually miss the buzz. The one time I was a little concerned was the crush at Portman Rd, that for a while was a bit scary

I remember a crush outside Portman Road well August 1990 if we are thinking of the same day , if you had fallen on the floor it could have been very serious.

Aniquated stand, poor policing, overcrowding, pay on the gate. There were lots of reasons for that crush but it still took fans to push to start it....
