Popular Post Lord Snooty
Derby - . Glad Frank Lampard in charge. Pleased to see players of that generation taking on coaching and managment positions because for a time I worried they wouldn't. Not enough of them were going to the coal face they were going to the media. So I'm glad he's in and apart from tomorrow I wish him the best! They’ve had a bad month but they’re there or there abouts. As they have been the last few years. They still have it all to play for, they have some great players , I think there are 10, 11 teams in contention. Maybe 12, …maybe 13! It’s a big challenge we set ourselves. It very difficult to walk in the door in February and change things. But the lads are buying in to it. We have 11 to go there’s a lot of points to play for. We understand that we’d have to have some run. We’ve been in the top 6 for form , we have to carry on that for two months Recruitment - : Arguably the biggest part of management is recruitment. As a manager you need a hand. You can’t watch a player on a Saturday so you need some help. That is trusted. We brought in some good players in difficult circumstances. I’m delighted to bring them here. The chairman has bought into. I hope to have 4 or 5 on the road (looking) . Recruitment is vital. We’ve already seen the benefit with the two players on loan and Iorfa for £200,000. There’s a certain remit of course. We’re aware people are running out of contract for a start. If we can find one or two… we had huge success doing it at Hull. Players like Andy Robertson. Can we find a Clucas, Maguire, Robertson. Thats what we want to achieve. Embargo – We all know the financial fair play issue is still with us, but we’ve got a lot out of contract, we might have to sell one or two. That’s part of the equation. But we’ve still got to have a team. We’ve got big discussions to have with the chairman. But we’re not alone. It’s half the Championship. It’s a big problem for any club unless you have parachute payments. Strikers- I’m like a Wednesday fan. We have 6 strikers and they’re all struggling with injury. Winnall will be back in the squad , he's been training with us. It’s a frustration for us all. We have to got on with it. At the minute nothing has changed. it’s been an issue for weeks, months.... years! Big club – To be a big club you need one thing. Big support and we’ve got it. The new lads I think realised what a full Hillsborough can be like the other week. That’s what I have to do try and get that stadium full every week. I know I keep going on, but that day at Wembley. I’ve never seen anything like it. 5

matthefish2002
Think Bruce is quite good with PR. Knows how to be honest, no BS but also knows how to every now and then butter up fans by saying how great they are.

Ibbo48
Can’t deny that buttering up the fans is a big part of the job but I think in Bruce’s case the Wembley experience must have had an impact on him. To be the manager of the winning side with a poor turn out of support and compare that to the masses that were there to support the losers is bound to influence you when you’re offered the job of managing that very same team. You have to be saying to yourself, what if ...?

Agreed and i also think Bruce will be able to steer DC in the right direction regarding how the clubs run. Even though DC is the man in charge a big character like Bruce could have a huge influence on the whole culture of this club.
Holmowl
“We’ve been in the top 6 for form , we have to carry on that for two months“ I really like what he is saying here. We don’t have to be World-beaters. We have to be in the top six for form for 11games. If we can do that we will go very very close. Especially with a draw or win tomorrow, and a win at home to Bristol City.

Birley Owl 1867
There are some good players available on free transfers this summer. I'm wondering though who will he look to bring in as the experienced CB? Gary Cahill and Wes Morgan are available but surely they're on too much money and in Morgan's case, past it? Or Timm Klose from Norwich?
