If Madine went for 6 it has to be 10 at least surely ?

Transfer valuations depend on the circumstances of the buying and selling clubs.

In January Cardiff were in a good position for promotion.

They play a direct physical game and needed a decent physical player as cover for their promotion push.

The potential reward of bringing in cover was over 100 million.

Bolton were in relegation trouble with Madine being their main striker. They didn’t need to sell.

The sale of Madine would have meant a good chance of relegation, so Bolton were prepared to turn down decent offers, it needed to be a stupid offer to tempt them.

Cardiff were the only team (due to them being close to hitting the cash jackpot) prepared to make a silly offer which Bolton found too tempting.

So regards Fernando you need to consider the situation of the buying and selling clubs.

Wednesday need to cash so are under to pressure to sell at some point this season.

Buyig clubs (do have plenty of cash) but are under no pressure to buy Fernando and might wait until his contract runs down or the end of the season.

I just count our blessings we have at least one player who is worth north of 10 million

There was a time when we were in the dark stuff without any saleable assets

The current situation is not nice, but it’s been a whole lot worse

Just a bloke, who used up all his luck in one go when he met his wife.

Don’t disagree that we need an overhaul - however does anyone think the current owners and management are the ones to do so?

There is also, of course, the need to ensure continued championship status whilst undergoing said overhaul.

I was going to say something similar, we have to stay in the Championship at all costs. I'm not sure about the owners. I can't figure it out. 3 points and a good performance tonight would be a step in the right direction.

Next season isn't it?

Just re-read. Apologies.

Can’t forget forestieri is one of the best players in the league though and Madine is bang average. We still have 2 more windows to get a good fee so we’re not desperate right now. 5-6m would be disgraceful

Yeah cause all clubs never let people go with a retained list.

Did you want to keep Loovens and Wallace and Kean?

What big players have we sold?

You are getting desperate

Another one who's joined the gang

Agree, the other important variable is, it seems to be silly season regards transfers, so it’s realistic to expect closer to 10 million.

Cant see him going this month but January19 might be different, think it depends if DC receives a silly offer.

Lets be honest, there isn't a cat in hells chance that FF will be here in 12 months time, the club need £12m between now and next summer to ensure that they are not heavily punished under P&S next year. Hes 1 of 2 maybe 3 saleable assets the club have.

Agree, it’s whether FF is sold now, in Jan19 or the end of the season.

Yep me thinks there should have been an * and some small print based around FFP and P&S in that survey.

Seriously though, i really fear for us if we sell him. We already look absolutely terrible this season so you take him out and what do you have? You have BB screaming at Jos for help and a team of largely bang average players that we are paying champagne prices to watch. Toxic will not be the word for it if FF goes and results don't pick up......

Club will get more the longer he has remaining on his existing contract.

Simple mistakes have put the club in the position its in, the number of people i speak to who within football that are amazed at the basic errors being made is amazing and its no dig at anyone at the club but people should have known better. Some staff have had their noses pushed out.

If they could somehow manager to get circa £10m and invested £3-4m in good Lge 1 & Championship players and there are some about (Lindsay & Bradshaw at Barnsley for example) which makes the team more balanced and relatively strong with a good work ethic and utilised the rest towards P&S coupled with a good sponsorship deal, also removed the wages of Abdi, KW, etc which equates to £1m per man then i can see light at the end of the tunnel.

The clubs failure has been its reluctance to wheel and deal simple as that. The mindset needs to change and football people need to be brought in.

If we are in negotiations with a club to sell and they are nearing completion then that club may ask him not to play games for risk of injury. Could be the same with Westwood, we all know the FFP stuff and that we will need to sell someone for a fee at some point. Sad but that might be Fessi. We can only sell the players for fees that other clubs are willing to pay a fee for.

But also he may just have a knock and this is all a nonsense, who knows. Not me, that's for sure. lol

No chance of him leaving this windows unless the offer is massive imo.

Several factors in play, I know some people will find this hard to believe but the player doesn’t want to leave. Fees are also inflated in jan, so we are likely to receive more if he leaves then. He is also contracted until 2020 with a further year possible. There is also the pr side, and lack of ability to replace in this window (jan gives us a lot more time). The difference to p&s would be negligible selling now (in comparison to jan), so just wouldn’t make sense.

So, I could see him leaving in jan, yes but now? No.

Back to the op, be very interested to where you’ve heard that info?
