Have a look at this photo - is this Hillsborough?

Well its got the hill in the right place, and what could be Wardsend Steelworks in the background...

But I thought it always had the big kop from when it was first built

Yes published in a local paper in 1903 and no the Kop wasn't always high it was enlarged at various stages over the years!

It's cannonball. Just below it the world's largest cannon, built to change the course of the Boer War had pointed upwards and test fired.

Our chip shop was flattened.

Don't remember the trees on top of the hill being that big when I was a kid

just been reading up on the stadium and it says the kop was built on a natural hill which clearly isn't the case looking at the 1903 pic …...must have been a major job getting in the earth to build it when it was extended upwards ,...….. your mission if  you choose to accept it is to find out the tonnage of earth used and where they got it from .lol

good find that dunsby …..if they ever do knock down the kop be interesting to see what down there ..
