Pretty certain the new long loan rules bar Joao from playing for us again this season even though the regular season is finished. Only a series of injuries would see him on the bench anyway so no loss.

We recalled Helan after Bennett got injured, and he then went on to appear in our last 3 league games.

Also pretty sure I've read something about new loan rules - but then again, given that Chris Martin seemed to think there was a chance of going back to Derby (and thus cutting short his season-long loan at Fulham), I'm not quite certain what the precise rule is.

Pretty certain the rules re. long loans have changed for this season. Pretty specific too that players can't return to parent club to play even in play-offs.

Like I say, I'd read something about there being rule changes too, such that it would bar players from returning to a parent club and playing for them any games that they'd have remaining. It does seem like an excessive rule though.

I think perhaps this issue arose for Chris Martin because it was during the January transfer window, and I think it is during that time that a season-long loan can be cancelled so long as all parties agree to it.

Not researched that but seems logical. Rules I think state that whilst players can return they can't play..... I guess this would only be something that would happen if the parent club wanted to oversee the rehab of a serious injury.

my understanding is they have loan dates set. so say 20th Aug- 20th may. then after that date is available for parent club.

In the past but not so now. Loan runs to season's end including play-offs for either club according to my research. He'll no doubt be back on our payroll as Blackburn's season is finished but cannot play for us in the play-offs. Anyway as someone said it's highly unlikely that he'd get close to even a place on the bench.

Id rather Nuihu on the bench who can hold the ball up and create defenders problems than Joao whos just as poor in front of goal with a fraction of the application

Yes and as others have said Nuhiu brings something different to any of the other front players.

I don't think we are allowed to recall Joao this season. He might be a better option from the bench than Winnall and Nuhiu, but I don't think it can happen

To be honest I'd pick Winnall all day ahead of Joao , not afraid to get stuck in and push CB's about when they try bully him, more determination to get on the end of things, even if it's going to hurt and Carries more of a goal threat.

I like Joao ,the only striker we have with pace .

id rather see him than nu-hope

but his time is up here unfortunately

Pacey, but has the touch of a cross-eyed mule when in/near the box

Thanks for that goal against Arsenal, tho.

Not that he would get a start, or even make the bench but surely he will be back from Blackburn and training with the first team squad as back up to cover for injuries just in case?( yes....I know, someone on here will know!)

Dont think he has a future at Hillsbro to be honest . He is coming back as seventh choice .
