BARROW IN TOON LINK

Newcastle are interested in signing Swansea’s Mo Barrow, according to Sky sources.

Swansea are willing to allow the winger to leave but a loan move is most likely at this stage.

Barrow last played for Swansea on New Year’s Eve in a 3-0 defeat at home to Bournemouth and has made 19 appearances for the club this season.

He’s been pushed further down the pecking order following the arrival of Luciano Narsingh from PSV.

Newcastle and Villa are buying wheelbarrows now to fill them with all the players they're trying to push to their clubs lol

Id like to keep him, send him on loan for rest of season though

Surely loaning him to Wigan for the remainder of the season would be an excellent compromise?

They get the player to try and stay in the Champ, they don't have to pay a massive fee, Joao gets to develop, and they're hardly going to challenge us for a play-off spot... they get a player that may make the difference in taking points off our rivals. Everyone wins... or am I oversimplifying this?

If they can pay us what we payed out, it would make more sense to sell him.

Put a few santa clauses into the contract in case he becomes a world beater- unlikely as it is.

Carlos will have a very strong opinion now as to whether Joao can hack it. One goal in 33 matches suggests he can't.

If Carlos thinks he can't the club must sell rather than loan, as his value can only drop.

Ross McCormack won’t be signing for his old club Fulham.

And according to reports today, it’s because the players don’t want him there.

Slavisa Jokanovic had considered re-signing McCormack on loan, but his players didn’t give him positive feedback.

The club sold McCormack to Villa for £12m in the summer and looked to be one of the favourites to sign him in the January window.

The paper writes: “McCormack was understood to be a disruptive influence last season, despite being the club’s – and possibly the division’s – best player.

Barnsley are quickly trying to replace their outgoing players.

Not only are they looking for a replacement for Conor Hourihane, they also need a new right-back after James Bree edged closer towards completing his move to Villa.

The Tykes are interested in taking young Liverpool defender Connor Randall on loan.

Pure gold, if true. This will make it harder for Bruce to offload McCormack and thereby release funds to buy Rhodes. Alternatively Villa's bargaining position will have weakened considerably and will make it more likely that they'll have to take a huge loss on their £12 million man. Win, win and Karma for Dr Tony re CH and Joe Bennet!

NEWCASTLE EYEING OSBORN? Let's stay in the Championship because while our sources tell us Newcastle are keen on Swansea's Mo Barrow - and have not given up on luring Andros Townsend back to Tyneside - another midfielder is on their radar, according to the Evening Chronicle. Rafa Benitez is "keenly monitoring" Nottingham Forest's Ben Osborn, says the paper, but admits any move would be more likely in the summer with other targets prioritised... Benitez no doubt clocked the cracker Osborn scored against Bristol City; well worth a look in the wrap below if you haven't yet...

SSN still saying we are interested in McCormack.  Is it in case a deal with Rhodes doesn't happen, or perhaps to put some pressure on Middlesborough to do a deal ?

Whatever, it certainly seems that we are after a striker this window.

My heart bleeds - lol

I bet the manager didn’t expect this when he arrived in October.

Not only is his missing Kodjia’s goals, creativity, versatility and all-round general play, he’s also having to make do without fellow African Jordan Ayew.

Rudy Gestede was sold to Middlesbrough for £6million because he wanted a move back to the Premier League.

Representatives of Rushian Hepburn-Murphy made Bruce aware that he would sign a new contract so he was promoted to the first-team set-up for the recent defeat at Cardiff. Days later there was no signature on the bumper new contract offered to the talented teenager. Still isn’t.

And now Ross McCormack’s indiscipline - he has missed training on a number of occasions this season and most recently claimed he couldn’t get to Bodymoor Heath because his ‘gates wouldn’t open’ - has forced Bruce into axing him from the team.

And what’s even worse:

“My bid for Jordan Rhodes was turned down and we won’t be going back to it,” said the manager when I asked him how he felt about the collapse of his strikefore in recent weeks.

Right now he’s having to make do with Gabby Agbonlahor, a forward who hasn’t scored for almost a year, and 18-year-old Keinan Davis - talented but far from the finished article.
