You will not get any player to come to the club that equal Lees or Hutch (we don't spend that kind of money) 2. Our first choice replacement at centre back is our club captain and vastly under rated by our fans. 3. He knows the set up and style of play. There is no transition period needed. 4. Won't be a massive strain in the wage bill. People need to be realistic where we stand in this division. Our centre back options are as good if not better than any of the others without parachute payments. Sense.
Guest Kagoshimaowl
I'm happy with this. Not many teams in our league have better 4th choice players than Sasso.

I think we've already spent most of the budget this summer on Abdi. Maybe a couple of million left for a winger but we'll see. It's why I never expected us to spend millions on a CB when we have Lees, Hutch and Loovens who are very good at this level. I do think the Lees/Loovens partnership is vastly underrated by quite a few Wednesday fans.

runningaround
as backup I am very pleased with this signing. Has potential to improve, a good age, knows the side and doesnt require a settling in period to the side or the division. Shrewd

Disagree , I think we are looking for better value. Hanley went for more than we valued him for and on his performance against Fulham I'm glad we didn't pay 5 million for him. Sasso on a minimal fee is good value for a squad player , wouldn't be surprised to see Joe Bennett turn up on deadline day either. Depending on the state of injuries and performances I think we might be holding off until January for Loovens replacement.

We started the Summer bidding for Hanley and have ended up settling for Sasso. Same Hanley who after 2 games has been dropped to Newcastles bench, I'm not convinced he was the best value signing. I agree all of our signings seem to be well researched and thought out under Carlos. We have been waiting for the right deal for us and finally got it. SiJ
Hanley for 5 million woul dhave been a complete rip off. Sasso for what I assume is a relative nominal fee is good business. Some people would whinge if we signed Ramos.

This, they wanted 4 million for sasso at one point, probably paid 350k

Depends what we signed him for Think he's a great footballer but a fairly average centre half ( obviously good enough for us I'm just being a wee pipe ) Would fit in with our policy of signing players with tremendous hair though Edited August 19, 2016 by Lee A
