dunsbyowl
Is this just Southern Journalistic stereotyping or back in the day did fans really take pigeons to matches with them to transmit the scores of matches homeward? Dave Allen would be proud! And may point to how those pesky Baggies stole our Cup Winning Ball ! Edited May 7, 2015 by dunsbyowl

Suzuki_San
I've never taken a pigeon, but I did see a guy once with a... ...well, I was on the Kop...and you know how it's actually pretty close to the backs of some of the houses on Penistone Road, etc? I thought this guy was listening to a small radio, but as I looked closer I realised it was a baby monitor.

prowl
That was the 1935 final. They had radios then so why would they send news of goals by pigeon? Interesting story though about how southern idiots stereotype northerners.

VictoryBell
Clearly, lots of us have taken smelly, scruffy, annoying birds to the match but I noticed that the newspaper report also carried a horrible premonition of WBA's unwarranted snagging of the match ball the very next day. It seems they are recidivists of the very worst kind, according to the reporter's evidence.
