Where would we be of we'd not sold Antonio?

Recommended Posts

15 goals, 12 assists.

less Stevie May's 7 goals, 1 assist

= 12 more goals (in theory)

We could probably have found an alternative to Stevie in the loan market and replaced at least those goals. So Antonio would probably have played instead of Maguire/Maghoma. As one has 9 goals/assists to their credit, and the other has 7, it's effectively the same diference.

Would we have any extra points?

Enough to be in the play off picture?

In theory this scenario would leave Milan £700K light; but would Chansiri have paid more and really pushed the boat out in the January transfer window if we looked like we could go up this season?

(*if - in the title)

The season before selling Antonio he was absolutely dire.

We can't be weaker without him when the league shows how much stronger as a unit we are.

He's playing well for forest, it happens, some people need to move on from this.

Depends. If it was the Antonio of last season still here he would be on the bench or in the treatment room.

Looks a bad decision to get rid of him but this team were better without him last season than with him (maybe because he was returning from injury).

Just because he has had a good season for forest certainly doesn't mean he would have for us.

Are people forgetting that the Antonio that we had became uninterested, lethargic & individual?

It's absolutely no coincidence that since Antonio left our defensive record has improved dramatically.

Antonio, when he's on his game, is a dangerous, unpredictable player, that's without doubt. We maybe might have scored a few goals this season, but I'd confidently say our backline wouldn't have been as half as stingy.

Of course there's no absolute way of saying, but I don't think we'd have had a better season with Antonio in the side. It might've been a slightly more interesting season, with more home goals. But it wouldn't have been a record breaking one.

The mistake we made was spending the Antonio money on a player who has seriously struggled to step up to Championship level. Had we spent that money more wisely, we could've been talking about a even better season.

I don't think we would have been any better off Antonio isn't a team player and his decision making left a lot to be desired.

Stuart Gray said St the time the lad wanted off, his head was obviously turned by the massive wages on offer, after the takeover at forest.

A lot closer to the top six, I reckon. He's given Forest exactly what Maghoma, Drenthe, and Isgrove haven't given us; many goals and assists.

Much better team without him and a much better team spirit.

He was an outlet but when it came to building attacks he was never going to be much more than a frustrating player who lacked vision. We saw it and Gray said it.

We're best rid. If we are going to progress we want players who will mould and contribute to a great team.
