Guest zipzippy
Not sure what the video proves as I am fairly certain that DJ had no involmement on-the decision to again play Martinez today( Martinez has played more games picked by grey than jones)

His distribution is poor too! Grey's hands may be tied by the deal with Arsenal - why the hell was that allowed to happen?
Guest Sheff Owl
The whole situation is a joke, Dave Jones was talking about bringing in a goalkeeper to push Kirkland and Kirkland hadn't done anything wrong and still hasn't. I get the feeling Dave Jones was building up to eventually dropping Kirkland for whatever reason, you don't bring a player in from the Premiership to sit on the bench so it was always likely to happen IMO. The goalkeeping situation was the least we had to worry about and now it's the most talked about.

So did DJ agree that Martinez must play in favour of Kirkland ?...DJ did not pick the side today ....you are aware of that ?
full fathom five
Heard that if he plays more games he will get a large payment under his contract ? So it's a MONEY SAVING MEASURE ? Relegation doesn't equate to MONEY SAVING MEASURE. Just another part of the farce that has been this season, only at SWFC.
dunsbyowl
Confidence in the spine of the team ! Always been the way starting with the keeper!
Guest zipzippy
The goalkeeper is the most specialised of all positions and probably the greatest influence (no team with a poo keeper has won anything). The fact that the best keeper at Swfc is not playing makes me believe that players are not picked purely on ability and form.

Owl999
It obviously a financial thing, he will be due a bonus or increments on top of his wage because of the number of games played, that was the reason Bywater was dropped to third choice at Derby. Blue and white
Heard that if he plays more games he will get a large payment under his contract ? So it's a MONEY SAVING MEASURE ? I've heard this as well. Just another example of cost cutting, cheap options and papering over the cracks. Disgusting doesn't even come close. Bahrain Owl
on the other hand between them DJ and MM had f*cked everything else up so why leave well alone?
heppers
Who are you referencing with 5 and 6? If by 5 you mean CoG then I have to disagree, he hardly set the world alight for us. Him and Leon Clarke are pretty much the same player IMO, average for us, sold and then suddenly start banging em in. He was our highest scorer when we loaned him out. He is no Suarez but better than what we have. Crazy decision.
shandypants
I agree, I haven't bought into the recent Martinez love fest. Thought he may have done better for both goals today, will have to see it on telly though. He does like the camera saves though. Agree. Getting beat a the front post is a cardinal sin for a keeper. I haven't seen the replays - I saw enough at the match to be certain that he was poor.
kobayashi
If its for football reasons it highlihts that those that ran/run the team dont have a flippingclue. If its for financial reasons it highlights that those that run the club dont have a flippingclue. Either way Wednesday are fooked.
owlmanc
Rob Staton still sticking to the dropped due to form line, it's getting boring now. Give me Paul Walker any day at least he questions decisions made by clubs. Staton is one of the most frustrating presenters ever... Investigative journalist are two words he doesn't understand. since59owe
This season of infamy will conclude in May, and with better planning we might have had a better rather than a bitter outcome
Innes
rather odd the whole situation. there has to be more to it than simply no clean sheets, but kirkland says here there's nothing more to it other than that..
theowlsman
If I were to guess..... Milan has accepted an offer for him and he'll be sold in January. Edited December 22, 2013 by theowlsman
DobbinTheDonkey
The club probably didn't want the embarrassment of him winning PotY before Xmas before selling him the month after.
Paul..
Absolute embarrassment that he's been dropped, easily one of the best keepers in this division, been the best player for us this season, as seen by the 2-3 player of the month awards, the problems in our team are nothing to do with Kirkland being in goal, more to do with a manager who lost the plot and now a caretaker simply not up to the task, get a proper manager in, get Kirkland back between the sticks and we might start picking some more points up.
