Recommended Posts

The Football Regulation Bill establishing the Independent Regulator for Football will be published and get its first reading in parliament tomorrow.

Finally we'll get to see it in full (only seen the legislative intention so far in the government White Paper).

Hope its not going to be a disappointment

So what are the PL bunging the Tory **nts to make sure it doesn't go through?

No danger that it won't go through. Too much cross-party support.

Some danger about having enough time to get through all parliamentary stages before the election is called and parliament dissolved.

1)     Will the FA have the right or Authority to reclaim it's status as the head of Footballs ruling body in the UK with the proviso that all the old farts of before are swept aside ?

2)    That is all for now.

A lot of people wanted the regulator to be a branch of the FA before the Fan-led review recommended (and the government accepted) that the FA was part of years of failed self-regulation.

It is recognised that the regulator has to be independent of the FA , the leagues and government

This is good news indeed!

The devil is in the detail but if the Bill in any way falls short we now have the opportunity to lobby our MPs to press for amendments.

Isn’t the fundamental problem that clubs are spending more money then they are making

whilst I understand and support the commercial money should be more available to football league clubs

this will only give them more revenue to max out

there needs to be more control on the clubs some wages are unsustainable and this should be brought more in line

where if their turnover/ wealth / assets are lower than the running costs

signings and wages should be blocked or capped until it’s come back in line

These things always look good on paper but in reality I suspect not much will change if this goes through.

I'd  be interested in how they  deal with an owner who sold the stadium  puts in just enough money  to keep  a club afloat while copping loads  for having high  ticket prices and not being successful......can they force him out can they force him  to get the stadium back  and if they can how ....certainly going to be interesting if they  have a cajones to take him on

What can they do about owners already in situ who are ruining their respective clubs?

If only they had the powers to remove their ownership and give the club to a supporters trust to run...if only.

Will the regulator have real powers i will be very surprised.
