  1. Well done Jack Hall! At the moment it does seem that we have a better all round set up at u-18 level than we do for our first team!
  2. Better than Bannan, give over. Bannan spent his time primarily playing deep & pointing at his teammates. Lee was positive & purposeful as ever, supporting attacks & opening up space for his team.
  3. What’s the crack with prizes? Until recently the Foundation results notices said payouts would be at a later date due to Covid. That’s not being said now but as a prize winner many weeks ago I’ve yet to receive my winnings. Are other Owlstalkers in the same position? As I understand the Foundation is a member’s’ Lottery so the money ought to be ringfenced. Anyone have more info here?
  4. Interesting how so few comments have been posted here about a guy who really is Wednesday through & through…. https://www.swfc.co.uk/teams/academy-staff-profiles/senior-academy-staff/steven-haslam/
  5. I think that’s a fair assessment & outlook in the circumstances
  6. Well done Jack - a bright light in amongst all the gloom!
  7. Yes let’s sack him. Then let’s have a regular poll on Owlstalk every 10 games asking whether the latest incumbent should stay or go.
  8. So there’s no room for different perspectives & ideas here then mate - open up a discussion & you’re deemed to be wanting out. Not sure that follows at all. WAWAW
  9. The big (“massive”) club mentality is a real hinderance for us I don’t doubt. Impacts our expectations as supporters & is maybe why we routinely get wound up if we’re not in the autos or play off position after a handful of games. Very probably impacts players too - “fantastic to have joined a massive club” etc & then the enormity of their task hits home hard? Altogether a different mindset I’d say at the majority of league one clubs where the focus is on the reward of future success rather than the pressure of recreating past glories & reaching old heights…. So is it now time for some downsizing? Or at least some right-sizing? Of expectations, egos, aims etc by club & supporters alike? What we’ve done & where we’ve been in the past is largely irrelevant to our present reality as a mid table league one club. So maybe time to accept that HMS p*ss the league really is a pipe dream & becoming a solid, capable league one side is a more appropriately sized all round ambition this season? With anything achieved beyond that being a fantastic bonus? And is it now time to do some right-sizing of where we live? Realistically we will not see gates at Hillsborough averaging 25k this season & we can’t sell up & downsize. So why not instead create the tightly packed, vociferous place that a typical third tier ground has the potential to be - close the top rows of seats all round & move the crowd closer to the action. If success comes along & demand for seats exceeds supply open up a few more tiers/rows to POTG supporters. Fits better with differential ticket pricing perhaps too but crucially is a means to make the place a whole lot more intimidating for opposing teams & loads more encouraging for ours. Changing management & playing staff hasn’t delivered us much in recent years has it so perhaps it’s time to make different changes…..

  11. Just making the point that we aren’t entitled to instant success nor is it probable given where we are as a club at present. This is going to be a pretty long roller coaster ride I feel
  12. Would be brilliant if we were smashing the league with attractive flowing football & players in all positions absolutely on top of their game…. but that was never going to be our reality given the turmoil of last season & the fact that we’re effectively starting from scratch. This is a 3 to 5 year project not the instant success we crave. Stop moaning & revel in small steps forward! oh and btw 2 nil to the Wednesday! UTO!
  13. Sad news. RIP Tony & thanks for your significant part in turning our club around in those dark days that were the late 79s
  14. Thanks for sharing though I’m struggling to see the link with what I posted
  15. Get why he’s marmite but DM has worked with him & plainly feels he’s worth a try. That should be comforting in itself. Given our financial situation I wonder where the bargain basement proven goalscorer we are all clamouring for would be coming from if he hadn’t signed. Yes it’s a gamble but I’m sure Moore has carefully weighed up the risk v the potential reward. Time will tell & at this moment who are we to judge?
  16. Disappointing result, unfortunate OG, pity we didn’t convert a few of our many chances. No harm in players seeing it was never going to be easy. On to the next game now & let’s not forget that overall we’re off to a good start
  17. If the players he uses over the 90+ collectively achieve a win I’m Moore than happy, every time! Good to debate & consider the what ifs but it’s the final result that counts
  18. Great win. Bit of an effort but we ground it out. Well done Wednesday!
  19. Spoke with this guy last night. He’s impressed by the squad & management we now have and expects us to be contenders for automatic promotion. With a great result today that journey has hopefully begun!
  20. Great away point - early days & scruffy performance as was likely - well done Wednesday
