So they haven’t given Dingley the job after all…they’ve appoint a bloke from Southamptons ranks.

Bet that was always the plan. The chairman just done it to “be the first” and for the publicity.

That's all it ever was and anyone who thinks it was any different is a little deluded IMO.

why would you appoint a caretaker for 10 days of training within preseason...a big PR stunt that got the nation talking about FGR.

Why wouldn’t you?

Yeah you’re right, it’s something every club does….never.

how many times did you hear about the “caretaker appointment” at hillsborough, Leeds or Barnsley?? The answer is you didn’t because no one was interested in anything other than appointing a permanent manager.

The FGR used Dingley as a PR stunt..which isn’t right in itself imo.

Someone always takes charge while a new manager search goes on, they don’t just tell players to stop at home while pre-season starts.

You don't usually announce a caretaker manager when you've not got any games.

Who was our caretaker manager?

Steve Haslam?

I think its a bit of both - getting some publicity while also having someone hold the fort while they appointed a new manager

The guy they have appointed is a fantastic and innovative coach

Interesting to see how he gets on as a manager

You do to your own fans.  It’s expected that national press would pick up on it.
