Swansea target Barry Bannan…..

the stats show he was the 141st most creative player in the league last season.

When you consider that’s his primary function in the team and he takes 95% of our set pieces it really is mind boggling that some of our fans are happy for us to pay him £27K a week.

When you consider he offers little defensively and not much of a goal threat it really does show how embarrassing the hero worship of him on here is.

This 100%....how we reinvest is the key, don't need to be like for like replacement

We need playmaker, though.

We needed him with Bannan here, without him we will need him even more. As we've seen last season as soon as opposition marks Bannan we can't pass ball out of our own 30 yards, panic and keep kicking ball back to opposition. I don't think that stepping down the league will make problem go away.

If he goes and we get a decent fee for him then so be it. We can cope without him.

But every manger we have ever had has had him as the main focal point of the team despite the things you highlight. Surely that must mean that he brings so much more to us as a player then just the few things you picked up he that he can't do.

Yes and we’ve been going backwards

England and many other successful trams(different level I know) don't have a traditional Sheridan type playmaker, the game has moved on now, it's about pace and multiple threats. Maybe DM doesn't want one pivotal player, who as you say gets marked out of the game...and will do even more in league one

You need someone to take responsibility, get on the ball under pressure and play it to players that are not under pressure. If you have good side where everyone is capable on the ball than you obviously don't need "designated player" to do this. Our players are awful on the ball and can't pass from the back so we need someone who can and to make things easier for everyone lets call that player a playmaker.

Btw. Moore played with out and out playmaker at Doncaster. Untill he left for Preston it was Ben Whiteman after he left for Preston Matt Smith played the role.

Time to let him go. Should not be playing at this level. Came out openly last month and said the club was not a great place to be at the moment.

Sell him and thank him for his tremendous service over the years.

Would have to agree with this

Also don’t think he necessarily fits with the formations we’re looking to play - he’s not a number 10 in a 4-2-3-1 and isn’t at his best in the 2 sitting.

Cracking player but at 31 (32 half way through the season) on high wages, he’s worth letting go and replacing with someone on lower wages good enough for L1

Hopefully DM is looking at a number of people who are able to handle the ball under pressure and take responsibility (hence the likes of Lee's and Joey leaving), which as you say we have generally been poor at probably since hooper left

Never seen Donny play, so happy to take your observations
