Liam Palmer

Recommended Posts

Dunno what people expect next season.

Itll take a lot of luck to find a better RB for league one on our budget. In fact, we’ll probably need two as Ozaze is off and I can’t see us offering Odubajo a new deal. That’s on the understanding that Palmer leaves which apparently a lot of people want to happen? You’re all in dream world.

Rarely injured. Covers a bunch of positions. Yes we need better & we’ve not recovered from losing Jack Hunt for pittance....but we don’t have the money to cherry pick one or two right backs. If we sell Palmer we’ll be taking a bit of a shot in the dark to find a right back who offers anymore than Liam does. There’ll likely be a sacrifice somewhere, and it’s usually with this club that they’ll be bloody injury prone.

Go and watch the first goal

Tell me that’s a player doing his bit and giving a poo.

Now remmeber that’s not an isolated incident, it’s endemic within his attitude

For Derby’s first goal there are 3 players (Joey, Bannan & Patterson) who fail to block the cross. Their are 4 players Hutchinson, Dunkley, Borner and Reach in the area versus 2 Derby players. Derby should not score from that position yet you choose to single out and seemingly blame Palmer. Bizarre.

And you choose to condone & excuse him.... again & again & again!

Singling out the right back who is nowhere to be seen and not even attempting to get back.

Where is Palmer in that shot? AWOL.

He doesn't have the speed or energy to be a modern full back.

Seen it so many times in recent seasons, he gets forward over the half way line, we lose the ball and the opposites counter attack, he just makes a token effort at jogging back, then realises he can't and gives up.

The game at Blackburn a couple of seasons ago when we lost 4-2 was a prime example.

He's 30 this year, not that he's ever had any pace but he is only going to get slower.

You understand that the whole point is that fact that he isn’t even in shot?

The ball is literally where he should be, but he’s still nearly on the halfway line

Paterson, Bannan, Pelupessy and Reach all back further than Palmer

Lazy, with the heart of a moth

So looking at the picture of what really happened where 3 players don’t block the cross and 4 defenders can’t mark 2 strikers you still chose to blame Liam Palmer. Are you suggesting that our defensive strategy should be to defend 3 attackers with 8 defenders?

You're obviously happy that we have a full back who makes no attempt whatsoever to get back? Fair enough

Can you explain the role of the right sided player in a 3-4-3 formation ? Can you explain the role of a defensive midfield player if the right sided player is caught forward supporting an attacking phase of play or would you rather just blame Liam for not being in the picture when there are 7 other Wednesday players defending 3 attackers?

Not my point. You’re obviously happy to blame Liam Palmer when 7 of his team mates can’t defend against 3 attackers. Would say fair enough but it’s actually unfair criticism of Palmer. He’s made plenty of mistakes this season that could have been highlighted, why pick him for criticism for someone else’s error?
