Paul Cook turns down short term contract with Sheffield Wednesday

Recommended Posts

You’ve got different journalists giving differing versions and the reality may be somewhere in the middle however imho contract length is irrelevant these days as most have severance clauses probably about 6 months pay. So even if it’s a 5 year contract you only get 6 months pay if sacked, I think that’s why a few recently have been described as 12 month rolling contracts.

Well in a few days the window will be shut can’t see many more coming through the door so leaves either a manager or coach to work with what we have ? And on last nights showing ain’t enough to stop up! Tomo had enough time to prepare and ready then to have a proper go a free hit at Coventry and he reverted back to pulis tactics? Not sure who we could bring in to get this shower up and at em cus it’s clear we haven’t enough quality to score every game let alone more than one of op score

That's what's being reported today

By who?

As I say, Nancy Frostick is as reliable as they come, and she was happy to have the following published under her name:

"It appears Cook made it as far as interview and discussions with the Wednesday hierarchy but The Athletic understands talks broke down when it became clear the deal on offer would only run until the end of the season."

So Nancy Frostick has said there was an offer; Alan Biggs has corroborated this; Alan Nixon has said there was an offer...but you don't think there was an offer.

Fair enough.

So, turns out no contract offer made from club, only approached by one of the advisers re possible short term offer which cook not interested in, again was Alonso driving this.

Alonso: "You interested in the job mate amigo - til the end of the season?"
Cook: "No"

Athletic: "Cook in talks with the Hillsborough hierarchy has turned down the opportunity to take over as permanent manager until the end of the season"

Or was a load of rubbish fed to her by a Spanish fantasist?

Imo Cook is the best person for the job, to think he didn’t even get an interview is crazy. I don’t care what advisor is looking to get someone in, Cook should have been put forward by both of them if they wanted the best for the club and not just the best for themselves, imo of course.
