Good post. But selling at the right time is key and having a model which isn’t the boom or bust approach. 10m on Rhodes killed us and it wrote us off for the next 5/6 seasons.

Also not selling players when they have value.

We could have sold FF and Reach for good money but instead they’ll walk away for nothing and chances are we won’t replace them with better.

Our problem we having done the right think since Jan 2015 who sanction Rhodes signing at the time can you remember how many fit plus decent centre half's we had... the answer is 3 we stock pile forwards and no Cover in the back line this happen when you make wrong appointments.... remember mick Mccarthy Ipswich with no money spend was battling out for sixth place 15-16 season if Mccarthy had us we be up as champions

Are you aware of how many centre backs we currently have on the books mate?

Foreign clubs change their manager every year anyway.. it’s why they all have a head coach and director of football structure. Carlos jumped ship from Braga after one successful year too so it’s just the way things are over there.

Let’s take Brighton as an example then.

2010-11 promoted from league 1

2011-12 finished 10th

2012-13 finished 4th then lost in POs

2013-14 finished 6th then lost in POs

2014-15 finished 20th (Hughton came Dec 2014)

2015-16 finished 3rd then lost to us

2016-17 finished 2nd, promoted to PL

All that shows to me is you build a side good enough to be there or thereabouts, then there’s a huge element of luck on whether it happens or not. The manager can’t control whether they win the play offs or not. Hughton lost that play off to us.. Steve Bruce lost the play off final at Villa.

Our problem is that we haven’t done the right things since 2016. First mistake was wasting money on players we didn’t need like Abdi or Rhodes.. fine if you can afford to lose it but we/Chansiri clearly couldn’t given we’ve spent hardly anything since. Then you’ve got half the fan base in 2017 saying they’re sick of these players and manager because they didn’t go up after finishing 6th and 4th. They also were writing off most of our best players saying they’re too old all the time.. players like Westwood being 34 (not too old for a keeper) and most of the outfield ones being 28-30 when they’ve got a good 3-5 years left.

What we should have done is evolve the squad and carry on spending after 2017, sell a few here and there, but evolve not gut it. Instead we didn’t bring in anymore players to improve us, hired a moron to manage us in 2018 which basically killed off two seasons. Then didn’t improve yet again in summer 2019, and Bruce left, then we hired another moron.

It’s totally mismanaged.. 2017-18 was probably a write off for us after the injuries and losing games.. but following the Brighton model we could have bounced back with the right managerial appointments and improvements to the squad. Neither happened and now we have a pretty weak squad and a poor manager, a chairman who looks to have run out of cash. So further away than ever because the right decisions weren’t made to ensure we stayed near the top of the division.

Hutchinson cant get through 90 minutes for a team in Cyprus, Nuhiu the same

FF cant get a game for a team at the bottom of Seria A

Hooper went to play in New zealand

Kieren Lee is pretty much retired

Boyd went back to Peterborough

Abdi retired

Wallace went to Fleetwood

Think that pretty much proves that they were past it and didnt have 3-5 years left.

Top 5 would still get in our team now so not sure why anyone would say they were past it in 2017

Would happily have this guy back at our club. Had us playing some of the best football I've had the pleasure of witnessing from us

As a pundit once said ,possibly Andrews , you feel that Wednesday get the results because of individual talent rather than the managers input.

Which was bang on the money

I will always remember when Warnock rocked up with hapless Rotherham and took King Carlos to school.

Just saying he had the foresight to see the moment he left this club was going to fall apart. He saw it coming.

VISIONARY.

He left an ageing, injury-prone squad, and no money.

It wasn’t really up there with Nostradamus to predict darker days ahead.

Jos (of all people!) got a better tune out of the squad Carlos left us. Then we got a fleeting glimpse of proper management under Bruce.

How much are we paying every week for:-

Van Aken, Flint, Lees, Borner, Dunkley and Iorfa. Six out and out CBs, plus cover from Palmer.

We buy poor quality or broken, so we buy some more. We did the same with strikers in 2016, when we had 7, and we are doing it again employing five, none of whom are good enough.

Ah yes I forgot Hutchinson and Hooper went to play in Cyprus and New Zealand for the "experience" like they are a gap year student or something. Lee is sat at home through choice because he doesnt want to play anymore, Nuhiu was innundated with offers from the championship but choose to be on the bench in Cyprus instead.

FF could still play in the championship but was always likely to move abroad due to his percieved victimisation against him over here.

In Nuhiu's defence he got to at least have a crack at getting in the Europa with APOEL.

FF is in Serie A, much rather be there than the Champ.

Agree with all of this except for the FF part.

He's come off the bench in all of their games. No disgrace being on the bench when they're playing De Paul (who received huge bids in summer).

The rest is actually pretty depressing. Like really depressing.

Can probably add David Jones playing handful of games for Oldham then being done.
