The CAMERON DAWSON thread

Recommended Posts

I have no doubt we will see wildsmith return to the side v Wycombe. Dawson looks shot.  To be fair to him he is playing behind two players in Van aken and borner who , for different reasons, are nightmare defenders to play with as a keeper.

Just watched the goals again. Has to either come and claim the first or stay on his line, as it is he is in no man's land and beaten by a weak looping header. The 3rd is a shocker, very similar to what Toney was saying. How he has parried a shot from outside the box straight out in front of him is criminal. That has to be pushed wide. We have to see an immediate change, he is atrocious

It is very poor from Dawson but where are our defenders? if the striker knows he will parry the ball our defenders should also be looking to clear the ball, not making excuses for Dawson but our defenders aint helping the situation.

He literally palmed it DIRECTLY to the waiting striker

It’s been evident since he first came in he wasn’t good enough.

His positioning, command of area, decision making and most of all parrying shots into dangerous area.

It’s been pointed out for I don’t know how long. 1 or 2 things have improved but on the whole he’s been awful.

If you point these things out with video or photographic evidence you get slated.

It’s not making a scapegoat out of someone or being horrible to state that a footballer simply isn’t up to this level and never has been.

After sleeping and reflecting on last nights debacle, it goes deeper than just poor performances for Cameron.

Yes, to blame for 2 maybe all 3 last night and others recently but he plays in a position where a mistake more often than not costs you a goal.

I'm not excusing his performance BTW.

There have been and are keepers who have played at the highest level and were renowned for mistakes.

Weetabix Sprake, Calamity James etc. and currently DeGea, Pickford, Hart and others.

Irrespective of whether he's good enough, on current form not, he shouldn't currently be starting. His confidence must be shot. You could see it in his reaction to the penalty last night.

We have a manager and goalkeeping coach who should see this.

Is Wildsmith a better option, can Westwood be brought in from the cold, can we sign another keeper, don't know the answer.

Young Hunt must feel the same way, started in a weak midfield set up against Brentford, one of the better Championship teams (apparently) got totally overrun and hauled off.

Oh heck, when will it all end.

All 3 goals where shocking mistakes that involved Dawson. He needs dropping on Saturday. Will Monk do it? Probably not.

It wasn't just the goals though

There were many other incidents last night including the one where it hit him on the shoulder and landed on the roof of the net as he stood there looking baffled

I completely agree and it wasn’t just last night. He has made so many mistakes in games. I really don’t think he gives the defence any confidence whatsoever.
